Hey my dearest followers. I need your help. I finished my last project today. As soon as I am getting home, I am downloading #linux and installing it before I am even greeting my mom or wife. I am so over windows and will never return back to it again. I am currently looking at #PopOs#Manjaro#Ubuntu. Shill yours to me and give me your best recommendations!
The new #Steam client they are going to release soon, is going to be a big problem for many #Linux users, or at least those of us with non-high-end computers.
It is too heavy, slow, and hogging system resources.
You can try it today by enabling the Steam beta in your settings.
I wish there's a way to stay in the old Steam client. T_T
At some point in the last few months, Pop_OS has stopped sleeping / suspending when I close my laptop's lid.
Even manually telling it systemctl suspenddoesn't work; it just takes me back to the lock screen.
Running sudo /lib/systemd/systemd-sleep suspenddoes suspend. As does echo "mem" > /sys/power/state. But when I push the power button I get straight in, no lock screen.
Help! How do I get my laptop to sleep when the lid is closed, and awaken to a lock screen?
Here we go. First time attempting to use #Linux as a daily personal driver. Let's see what happens. Install was simple. Getting Firefox Developer Edition wasn't as easy as I'd hoped, but doable. #popos
Anyone know how I can get 2-finger swipe navigation working in Firefox for Linux?
Things I've tried:
export MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
widget.disable-swipe-tracker=false
Updating to the latest version of everything.
Reading search results, bug trackers, and forums.
My laptop supports pinch to zoom & 3 finger gestures in the OS.
I can't even login to #Google. After entering my password, the tab just stops working. It stops interacting. No clicks, no tabbing, no arrow cursor.
I can't event open about:support it hangs.
I can't use #Facebook, eventually the tab will stop interacting. No clicks, no tabbing, no arrow cursor.
I can't watch videos on #YouTube. If the YT ads play first, it will get stuck there. If the actual video plays first, after a few seconds it will either get stuck at some frame, or just keep playing without any interaction (can't stop, etc.)
ngl I just installed #PopOS because I finished Windows work and can use Linux but need to hit the ground running with Nvidia drivers ready to go, and tbh... this is pretty amazing, #Linux but easy is a good thing
First issue using PopOS as my daily driver. Dual monitor support is weird. It supports my 2 monitors, but games will randomly not use the right resolution. E.g. Skyrim, set to use 4k resolution will resize to about 75% of the screen. Is this because I have Fractional Scaling enabled so that text is readable on the 4k monitor?
The issue with it resizing is that if I go full screen, my 1080p second monitor goes all weird - and I lose half of the window open on it off the screen #LinuxGaming#PopOS
How did I spend my morning? Since I'm in a "distro testing" mood, #nixos was running my CPU and GPU fans low (current guess), so my thermals were warmer than expected. I wondered if another distro would result in the same thing. Installed #popos for fun, half of everything locked up and I had to force quit, even to install a font! Installed Arch again and will be testing thermals shortly. More thoughts later...
Has anyone recently switched from #popos to #fedora? Not looking to start any wars here, I've been a happy user of Pop for years... But I think I would benefit from switching to a more upstream #gnome experience. I'm already using #flatpak extensively. I'm also on a common model of Thinkpad, so not worried about any hardware issues. Are there any challenges I should prepare for in the transition? Something I might have overlooked that could impact my productivity?
Trying out #PopOS#Linux today. I really appreciate the auto tiler window management, and the system seems to run pretty well out of the box on my RTX 3060M card (until I tried to use Pop Wayland and watched steam freak out all over my monitors), but it's painful to have to manually add and modify GRUB to dual boot from a separate drive and also I'm still really not a fan of how claustrophobic GNOME feels.
I would rather just get the auto-tiler, dGPU, and super key menu configurations in KDE.
People always say that #Linux doesn't play nicely with hardware or software.
My friend has a hardrive that stopped working. I really thought the thing was dead. It was making that jank ticking sound of a dying hard drive. You know what I am talking about.
So I took it out of their PC, placed it in a #SATA HDD dock, and plugged it into my Linux laptop.
You'll never guess. #PopOS detected a #Windows hardrive people who were ready to throw away and lose all their data.
Nothing was corrupted. The hardrive was just very close to its end.
Do you want to tell me #LinusTorvald added patience to an operating system
Ran Linux Mint for a week, which is always my choice no. 1. However, it was painfully slow, some apps took 20 seconds to start. Video streaming was lagging and I could literally see the cursor trying to catch up with my typing. Not sure what was wrong, couldn't continue. And that with a Thinkpad X1, 4 cores and 16 GB of RAM.
Now jumped to PopOS and boy, does it make a difference. Did anyone have a similar experience?
What's the latest thinking on installing software on #Linux? Should I use #apt and connect directly to repositories? I'm using #PopOS and their "Pop! Shop" uses flatpak. Personally, I think I prefer using their flatpak thing but am I missing a benefit from using apt?
Got Pop!_OS up and running in dual boot. Seems to work beautifully with my new PC. Will this finally be enough to get me to switch from Windows as my daily driver? #linux#popos
Bonjour,
Et utilisation de #xournal++ .
Tips?
As a newcomer to Pop!_OS, I'm wondering if anyone has any must-have apps or suggestions for getting the most out of the experience?...
