Ran Linux Mint for a week, which is always my choice no. 1. However, it was painfully slow, some apps took 20 seconds to start. Video streaming was lagging and I could literally see the cursor trying to catch up with my typing. Not sure what was wrong, couldn't continue. And that with a Thinkpad X1, 4 cores and 16 GB of RAM.

Now jumped to PopOS and boy, does it make a difference. Did anyone have a similar experience?

@louis
I never tried Mint. But I have 2 System76 machines running Pop!_OS, and they are working out great for me.

    @offset___cyan For work setup, yes. Unfortunately many packages that I need did not compile on OpenBSD. :openbsd:

    @louis Did you actually use Intel drivers? Seems like you were running without GPU support; it makes even basic 2d applications very laggy especially with modern screen resolutions.

    @galdor Yes, all drivers were installed, but you could be right that is was some issue with GPU.

    I ran (previous versions of) Linux Mint before on this machine and never had any issues. Always worked out of the box.

    Well, now I'll enjoy PopOS for a while. Has a great Tiling Window manager built in.
