Work in comfort and modernity!

Spotted near Newport, NH during a bike ride a few years ago. I’ve always loved these old, “springy mounted” metal tractor seats, but then again I've never had to spend a day (or whole Spring) sitting on one.

The wife and I also went to Lowe's today and bought some new flowers.

We got a red rose in honor of her mother who passed away February 2023 due to cancer, since we already have a yellow rose in honor of my dad who passed away July 2021.

Celosia is the little plant with various colored flowers, then a dark orange and yellow pansy, and a white and purple dianthus.

An article from today's Washington Post on how spring is arriving earlier.
And how we, as gardeners, are noticing it.

@greatgamer
last weekend I set out to buy some flowers for the winter for the window seats. I decided to go with heather because it's the only plant that can sustain the winter in pots, so I have read.
But last year I had pansies in pots outside the door and they did oaky. It's too early here to buy pansies, and I was too late this year to seed them myself.

This in the pot are the pansies that seeded themselves from a last year's pansies that lasted almost the whole summer this year, and we're placed around the corner. How did the seed get all the way to those pots I do not know 😁
I will be buying pansies in a week or two, and I have few more heather's to plant as well.

This beautiful red Persian violet survived 2 years in my bedroom and then I decided to plant it outside this spring. It took nicely on the east side in the rose bed and is blossoming now. I will see how she will survive the winter giving the fact that we are having warmer winters.
Anyway, looking forward to planting pansies to put on the stairs into the house.

It would be really useful to see some research into embodied carbon for various restoration planting techniques.

Not only does this look expensive to me in terms of people hours, there is a lot involved in terms of mowing, rabbit proof fencing, wool mats, metal staples, biodegradable plastic pins, plant production etc.

Spent the last two days making a new plant bed. Ran out of good stones so I even had to go dig for new ones behind the barn 😂 everything around it is a work in progress, probably won't finish it this year, being able to grow more things is the important part 😀

The start of a plant bed, roughly 10m long and 80cm wide. The ground is covered with cardboard. The sides are different sized rocks. The sticks in the previous image has been covered with woodchips and bokashi
Finished plant bed with some small plants visible

Seagrass is so important to carbon capture, sea-life habitat, stopping coastal erosion etc, but it's hard work to replant lost seagrass meadows. So this robotic seed planting machine is really exciting.

💚🌺🌧️

Almost finished when the rain decided to fall. I will have to finish planning and replanting in the greenhouse.
I have several verbenas that survived winter and now I will replant them so they can enjoy the summer.

Last session with students!
What a blast this year has been. Now it's time to start getting supplies for next year, write a second grade , design a plant class for OCVN, continue researching the progress at the school gardens, create a layout of each school's current tree and flower plantings, and keep the gardens growing during the summer!
...BUT....
That's a wrap for 2022-2023 B's Jr G's!

After spending nearly 20 years in an apartment, being in a house with a yard is so weird. Like, how do you actually plant things in the ground? I get how to use pots and window boxes and raised beds, but like… in the shitty dirt in my front yard? Am I supposed to use potting soil? Fertilizer? Just stick the plant in the ground and hope? #gardening #plants #yardwork #gardens #planting
