Exciting @williamtries ! Good luck on this journey. GNOME on phones is only suitable for adventurous people for now, but you seem to know your way around 👏
Hey, is there anyone in #Leipzig or at least germany who thinks they are able to fix my bricked #oneplus6 and #oneplus6t ? I have multiple and I managed to brick them all after experimenting with #postmarketos and #gnomemobile for a while. I don't know how I managed to so consistently brick them.. I tried some stuff recommended on xda devs and other forums but never got them to work again.
I just posted a short tutorial on setting up a simple #LLM on your #oneplus6 running #postmarketOS . The LLM (7b alpaca in this case) is not terribly accurate but possibly useful in some cases.
Warning! You phone will get hot. I haven't tested it long enough to know if it will harm your device, but do be careful.
Oh! I have a website now! Wow! My history with websites is hit and miss, so enjoy it while it lasts. I have half a dozen posts in the works already.
I gave KDE Plasma Mobile another go. It improved a LOT over the past few months. No crashes yet! It's a lot more stable now. Although not as stable as Phosh.
I like their whole "just copy Android" philosophy. Everything feels familiar and intuitive. I might keep it like this.
#Apple doing it's best to disallow alternative app stores on #iOS despite EU ruling. #Google gearing up to ban sideloading apps on #Android in Singapore.
I'm unable to fix my #oneplus6 with the Windows tools. I can install the #qualcomm driver and the device is detected by windows but not in the msm tool (wrong COM port) so I can't reinstall #postmarketos nor the original #firmware. Any advice? I don't want to buy another phone again 😕
@fell@sandwich@postmarketOS Hmm, fair. I do have to use mine, but even if I didn't having a native android slot is useful for some stuff. Specially battery life as I've seen
@LovePoison@sandwich@postmarketOS For now, I want to use the OnePlus 6 as a secondary phone. I hope that on ordinary days I can just go out with the Linux phone and leave the Android one at home.
@dylanvanassche has done an incredible amount of reverse engineering work to enable sensor support for SDM845 devices in #postmarketOS! 🎉 🎉 🎉
The accelerometer (auto screen rotation), ambient light sensor (auto-brightness), and compass now work properly on phones like the #OnePlus6 and #SHIFT6mq! Amazing work!!!
@craftyguy@dylanvanassche Amazing work! I've been testing this MR on my OnePlus 6T for a while now and it works perfectly. I'm so happy it's been merged! Thanks to all of those involved!
I just installed #PostmarketOs with #Posh on the #OnePlus6 phone.
First impressions:
🔵 I expected GTK3+ apps more responsive and more adapted to mobile screen.
🔵 Touch gestures are often misinterpreted - swipes recognized as click and so on
🔵 Its very laggy
