Advocating for #Wasmcloud to adopt a OSS-first approach and use #LinuxFoundation#OpenBAO as their example of a secret store integration in upcoming RFC implementation..
@linuxfoundation projects are already seen as overly corporate, and sticking as much as possible to at least #OSS and preferably even #FOSS in docs + elaborated examples would help to not further reinforce that notion.
Feedback like this makes me soooooooo happy 😁! PR #️⃣7️⃣7️⃣7️⃣7️⃣ was my biggest #OSS initiative, took a lot of time to deliver it, but it was totally worth every minute spent 🥰.
Hi #oss folks, I need #help with a possible #malware infection in #Firefox on #Linux. After accidentally visiting a spammy website I am getting suspicious and short-lived #popup windows with a grey border in the corner of the screen. Their text seems to always starts with (A). The first one was ostensibly about Norton, this one McAfee. Tough to verify any fix since they only appear once in a while; I did get a photo of one:
Yesterday was my first time doing #sprints at #PyConUS (or anywhere), and I didn't know what to expect coming in. From the time I asked "is this the @coveragepy table?" to when I left, a table of complete strangers were so kind, funny, helpful, and patient as I explained my idea, got set up, and started hacking away while asking tons of questions all along. Thanks to @nedbat@grohe43@marcgibbons@kevin and the rest of the sprinters for being the best example of what #OSS collaboration can be.
I'm genuinely curious.. when I make #FOSS applications I always make it work according to my needs instead of thinking about making it usable for everyone else. Is this normal? Am I the only one who does this? #oss
Starting the day by deleting around 200 spam GitHub Discussions. Always a pleasure...
If GitHub's looking for AI topics: it could really help maintainers by spotting spam, blocking accounts, and automatically deleting discussions/issues so they have nothing to do.
food for thought when giving feedback to contributors.
the author reflects on giving feedback in OSS vs corporate.
OSS, you invest in the ppl and give lots of feedback. not in corporate.
and I like this takeaway:
> And so, I’ve learned that a person can absorb only about one piece of feedback per interaction, and then only if it’s labeled very specifically as feedback with the best intentions, and wrapped delicately in a feedback sandwich.
We are proud to announce that @xunit is the May 2024 sponsor project for .NET on AWS! They're generously funding our development efforts for the next 12 months.
Open source contributors, what did you wish you knew when you started contributing? Or is there something that kept you from contributing for too long?
I am asking for a presentation, which I will give in two weeks.
I'd like to become more involved in Open Source. Any suggestions for an interesting Open Source #PHP project that needs some help?
(And sorry, no, I don't want to write docs :-) #oss
