Denn das hält #Twitter bzw #x am leben.

Ebenso #adblocker für #youtube und co.

Es wird soo viel Zeit und Energie verschwendet um solche Seiten zu überlisten.

Mit dieser Energie hätte man die Alternativen fördern können.

The #Nitter project has been abandoned.

In https://view.matrix.org/room/ and https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/issues/983#issuecomment-1913362376 the maintainer claims that #Twitter/ #X has removed the ability to request new guest accounts. This means that other projects like #BirdMakeup are living on borrowed time right now.

Of course, the projects can still, in theory, use real Twitter accounts, but the reliability is unclear (a cat & mouse chase) while exposing account/instance owners to legal repercussions (due to ToS).

Oh look it works again, thought when it wanted to access #X anonymously it didn't work anymore. Apparently it now works again like on #Twitter and you can distribute its anonym here in the #Fediverse over a #Nitter instance. It's more convenient to avoid the data collection frenzy of this #web recording for your #privacy.

If anyone wonders why nitter.net stopped working, it's due to Njalla domain provider suspending dev's account... after someone made a complaint about nudity images. More absurdly, links are from other instance: nitter.it https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/issues/1150

At best, this is extremely shortsighted and premature decision by Njalla because Nitter is simply Twitter's frontend. At worst, it's a deliberate attempt to pressure on Nitter devs once again

I keep going to Twitter, as the bird.makeup service is not reliably reposting to Mastodon via the mirror accounts. It’s a shame the project is on SourceHut (dealing with outage issues ATM, BTW), as I don’t see a way to report issues. I sent a DM to the project creator a week ago about how to report issues, and he hasn’t responded.

I guess I can try again by tagging @vincent.
