With the Limited Run edition of #maniacmansion I finally have a copy of the poster that came either the original release. It is chuck full of hints and funny tidbits. #lucasarts#retrogaming
The #NES version of Maniac Mansion had an awesome soundtrack, probably one of the best soundtracks on the console IMHO. And this is a solid cover of "Dave's Theme". :thinkergunsunglasses:
There are many Maniac Mansion versions, including Meteor Mess 3D (2022) by @vampyregames. It's the Maniac Mansion remake in 3D with a voice cast.
Even Jeff has his own walkthrough! 😎
"Save early, save often" is not only Al Lowe's motto, but also the motto of Ronville's police station in #ManiacMansionMania Episode 54: CSI Ronville (2006) by Mister L.
I'm teaching my kids the values of the traditional point-and-click adventures, and we're currently about to finish #MonkeyIsland 2. Other classics like #ZakMcKracken and #ManiacMansion are on the to-to list, but I'm also looking for something new - and that's when I - somewhat late, admittedly, given that it was release some six years ago - discovered that the legendary @grumpygamer made #ThimbleweedPark which looks absolutely bloody amazing. And it's on sale on both Steam and GOG! This is going to be awesome! :-)
Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion, Sam & Max and more wallpaper shenanigans available right here https://ko-fi.com/sayomgwtf/shop
They are entirely free to download! Just let me know which one is your favorite 🥰
Since AGS 2.62 games doesn't run on newer Windows systems properly, I recommend to run my first game #ManiacMansionMania Episode 40 - Trapped in the Cellar with the latest @scummvm 2.8.0. version.
Did you know you can play my game in 🇪🇸 🇫🇷 🇮🇹 🇵🇹 ?
Thanks to some art posted by @arcadehemingway on Twitter, I was able to complete my reconstruction of Gary Winnick's early sprites for the Edisons in Maniac Mansion (based on his original sprite sheets) to include Dead Cousin Ted!
Color concept art for the Edisons (then the Schwartzes) in Maniac Mansion, from @danielalbu's interview with Gary Winnick. Note the absence of blue skin!
I suspect the later enhanced EGA versions gave the Edisons blue skin to suggest a pallor from not going outside for 20 years, within the restrictions of the EGA palette - something done much more effectively in VGA in Day of the Tentacle. #maniacmansion#dayofthetentacle#dott#lucasarts#adventuregames
I took a stab at recreating some of the early Edison sprites seen in @danielalbu 's Gary Winnick interview. They're a lot shorter than the versions in the published game, and look a lot less squashed when they're seen with aspect ratio correction (image 3).
You can also see the shorter early sprite for Wendy in a piece of WIP art Ron Gilbert posted on his blog a number of years ago.
