On this holy day of The #Apple Event, I find myself writing the following comment in my code after trying to run my app on a #Mac:
/**
Metadata about the database itself.
This is inlined here instead of being kept in its own Database.js file like all the other model classes so as not to leave our friends who have Appleⓡ Macⓡ devices that cannot differentiate between database.js (this file) and Database.js (that file).
Perhaps when Apple becomes a Gazillion billion-dollar company…

I have been using Thinkpads for years and been using Trackpoints. I love the technology, but we getting a bit of strain in my fingers, so wanted to try something else, so using a laptop with a touchpad instead. Finding that I kept clicking things by mistake. Thought there was something wrong with my laptop, but then found there was a setting for clicking things my mistake and it was called "Tap to click" and a similar one for right clicking. Both were on by default.
I guess I am one of those that prefers to click when I want to click and not have a slight touch of the touchpad register as a click. The touchpad has to differentiate between clicking, scrolling, moving, etc., so having everything with the same level of pressure seems likely to lead to mistakes.
We restored this Mac Classic II on one of my streams about a month ago. @AlanGrassia purchased it, and I donated that to The Trevor Project. Please go check them out. They do incredible work. (#vintageMac click bait to bring attention to a good cause) https://www.thetrevorproject.org
@BigBadBiologist@AlanGrassia Cut my Mac teeth on this very beast — and here’s a photo I just took of it. Hasn’t been booted up in years (and I have no ADB mouse or keyboard, so it likely never will again). #mac#RetroComputing#ClassicII
Ok, hear me out - OS-LYMPICS. Let's take #Mac, #Windows and #Linux, and identify a number of operational concepts - efficiency, security, breadth of app base, hardware compatibility, literally anything else. Elect guru squads - MacOS team, Linux team, and.. me. A podcast, or a twitch session, or something. And then each team "competes" to show off the capabilities of their OS versus each operational concept so that otherwise clueless people can get a fucking clue. HOW FUN, amirite?
BBEdit - It Doesn't Suck https://apps.louplummer.lol/post/bbedit-it-doesn-t-suck In the world of text editors for the Mac there are lot's of choices. I come to the decision making process as a non-programmer who occasionally does some basic scripting with the help of Ai. Visual Studio Code is the most popular among programmers with an estimated 70% market share.... #Mac Apps
Diese Funktion, mit der Maus vom #Mac einfach auf den Bildschirm vom iPad zu fahren und das zu bedienen ist soooo praktisch! Vor allem, wenn man dann einfach mit der Tastatur des Macs tippen kann.
It's been years since the #Mac machines I've owned can sleep properly. I choose sleep from the 🍎 menu, and the screen blanks and comes right back on as often as not. If I let the screen sleep after a period without using the machine, sometimes I'll return an hour later and find the screen on, and unlocked. Total #security and #power management failure.
I have been building browsers for 30 years now. First Opera and now Vivaldi. My estimate is that more than 1 billion have used one of my browsers or both. Have you?
This completely derailed all of my productivity as I tried to fix it. Couldn't even verify my identity for a while due to server errors. Took over an hour, plus a call to a totally useless Support agent who blew me off and kept insisting that I had just forgotten my password, before I finally got back in on my own.
#FaceTime invitees need the ability to share their screen. That seems to be the biggest glaring miss when using it with non-Apple devices that work being it up to par with other video conferencing apps. #Apple#Mac#iPhone
@thurrott A masterclass review Paul! I still have a primary #windows11 PC, but I love my M1 #MacBook Pro. As you mentioned, the integration with the rest of the #Apple ecosystem is a delightful part of owning a #Mac. When Apple hits M5 I plan to replace my Windows laptop with either a Mini or Studio. There just isn't anything sticky in Windows for me anymore.
