My first #fediverseBot is finally live! @LaDiaria posts news from the 🇺🇾 newspaper @ladiaria directly from their RSS feed. As bots go, it's really simple but the reason I'm so happy is that's running from my own implementation of an #ActivityPub compatible server made with #Laravel and #PHP. There's still plenty of work to do, but for now, the basics are there and I wanted to test it in the wild.
Has anyone been successful in using #fulltext search IN BOOLEAN MODE with pagination in #laravel. All works great until you try a Boolean search with a +, then invalid number of parameters error rears it’s ugly head. Without pagination also works fine. This might work with a custom pagination query, but was hoping someone might have found a better way. #php#mysql
A bit saddening to see some of the active #laravel users posting a lot on Threads, but still not here on #mastodon. Guess this is an opportunity for some folks to get a leg up by posting more #php and laravel related code stuff
The #Laravel ecosystem has really nailed developer experience and streamlining work for their users. I think other open source projects have a lot to learn from them. #LaraconUS#Laracon
Really not a fan of all this AI nonsense going on in IDEs. #Jetbrains with an un-uninstallable AI plugin (not to mention increasingly poor performance), #zed looks promising and luckily the AI stuff can be disabled but it’s lacking features because it’s new-ish. VSCode is a nope…
Anyone has recommendations for an alternative? I mainly work with #php#laravel#rust and #typescript. Obvious choice for me is #neovim or #helix but I’m finding it such a chore to get working, not to mention tooling.
An excellent if long writeup about the failures of #ActiveRecord. Which is also one of the reasons I am so vocal about the fundamental problems of #Laravel/#Eloquent, as it's a particularly messy Active Record implementation.
And to start of Monday, we have "This database engine does not support fulltext search operations.” when running local tests in sqlite, even though we have verified that fts5 is enabled.
First fight I have apparently picked with #laravel 10 is my desire to use the repository pattern for some data access where I am doing a bunch of joins and I used the query builder. What other approaches should I consider using? #php
I'm researching open source help desk options this morning and came across this gem. Free Scout (built on #Laravel 5.5) doesn't believe in updating the framework. But wait, it gets better. They think the proper solution for bugs or upgrading #PHP versions is “patching and overriding vendor files”
I'm interested following more people here, particularly in the #php#laravel and #comicbooks community. It's actually quite challenging to find folks on this service IMO.
Love #Tinkerwell for those that have used it you’ll know why. But… sadly, I find the direction it is going in for my uses is not a good fit. Too many features, and AI… ick. Yeah I know, just don’t use those.
There is also 3v4l Integration from JetBrains, but I can’t help think… why?
I have several PHP versions running locally, why can’t I run test code locally? In VisualCode I used to do this a lot. Perhaps time to just go back to Tinker in my #laravel projects?
Anyone with experience in convert #markdown tables to arrays in #PHP? Our system gets 2 column markdown tables which we want to turn into associative arrays. #Laravel is our framework.
