The “Astrophysical and Cosmological Relativity” department at the @mpi_grav in Potsdam announces the opening of several postdoctoral appointments.
These appointments will be in the area of data analysis and its interface with waveform modeling for the recently adopted space-based gravitational-wave detector LISA.

The European Space Agency and NASA have OK’d their Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) project, a gigantic gravitational wave detector that will spot ripples in space-time caused when black holes collide with other massive objects. It's Music Women Wednesday from @loewe and let me tell you - LiSA has been dropping a bunch of special clips, music clips, music videos onto her YouTube channel in the past few days.
This picture in a CHM article about the #apple#lisa shows Al Kossow @bitsavers and what looks like a Lisa card cage. However, the board in the picture looks unlike every Lisa board I've seen. There's a 64-pin DIL chip (68000?) and a piggyback board on the left with a 40-pin DIL chip, an EPROM, and a 20-pin DIL chip. If this board is in the correct location, it should be an I/O board. So – what is it? Al, can you help, please? 🙂
The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) has been granted €1.39mn to finish development of its high-precision laser targeting mechanism.
This will support one of ESA’s most ambitious missions: tracing and studying black holes with the aim of unraveling the history of the universe — humanity’s most challenging puzzle.
ESA’s so-called LISA will be the first space-based observatory designed to study gravitational waves
