#GreatAlbums1980s - #IronMaiden – Iron Maiden (1980). Singer Paul di'Anno led a scrappier version of Maiden than would emerge by the 3rd album – an incarnation some fans still prefer. The raw power of "Prowler," "Remember Tomorrow" and an early mini-epic, "Phantom of the Opera," had less to do with punk than low-budget production. But it didn't hurt that the urgency of the group's sound felt brash and dangerous at a time when metal desperately needed a kick up the backside.

…nach vielen Jahren habe ich nun erneut eine #DnD Spielrunde, den Spaß am Miniaturenmalen wiederentdeckt, mir eine Grundausstattung an Farben etc. zugelegt und — voila, der erste Eddie ist fertig!
Natürlich hab ich während dem Bemalen auch ausgiebig das Killers Album gehört.

So I'll be at my parents with my son this weekend, and we had a blast on the 2 hour car ride. We listened to #Powerslave again, and I was wondering if this song is the most underrated Maiden song:
"To Tame A Land" [by Iron Maiden] is based on the science fiction novel Dune, which was later made into a movie.
Author Frank Herbert refused to allow the band to call this song "Dune." The band originally sent a letter to Herbert's agent for permission.
The response read as follows: "No. Because Frank Herbert doesn't like rock bands, particularly heavy rock bands, and especially rock bands like Iron Maiden."
Christening this extremely well maintained Technics SL-23 turntable I picked up today with a new copy of the 1983 album Piece of Mind by #IronMaiden. This might be the only band I listen to for a while
Bass player #Eddie, looks like #IronMaiden Steve Harris beginning to perform his typical machine gun pose. Trickiest part perhaps was to pick the right colors for Steve’s West Ham United wrist bands and bass guitar strap :)
