When we first came to New York, we'd play four times a day. I only had one guitar, so I'd have to break it and fix it four times a day: Pete Townshend talks guitar smashing, and what he had to do to keep his gear functioning
John Hiatt once sang, Oh, it breaks my heart to see those stars smashing a perfectly good guitar, but you'll never hear...
The song "Prayer of the Mothers", was born as a result of an alliance made between singer-songwriter Yael Deckelbaum, and a group of courageous women, leading the movement of “Women Wage Peace”.
The movement arose on summer 2014 during the escalation of violence between Israel and the Palestinians, and the military operation “Tzuk Eitan”.
Affinity has been bought by Canva, to compete with Adobe.
It was of course a matter of time before Affinity would outgrow its status of sympathetic small-scale Adobe alternative, and be sold for large proceeds.
Canva is into AI. Hopefully Affinity will get some useful AI-powered image processing tools, like upscalers and denoisers, but Canva will probably add generative shit and introduce subscriptions sooner or later.
Just published: How can art effectively deliver environmental messages?
I interviewed my colleague Dr Robyn Glade-Wright about her environmental art practice and her 2023 exhibition 'Falling from the Sky' at James Cook University Cairns, where I was an exhibiting artist(-scientist)
Today was the first suspected cheater I've had in a job #interview for a while. I'm pretty sure they were using #ChatGPT to answer my questions, and they weren't doing a great job of it. They had all the telltale signs of cheating, and then I got the same bullet points with weird word choices that ChatGPT spat out if you put in my question. Game, Set, Match.

#interview Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir on "Face the Nation," October 1973
Israel's leaders' megalomania and hubris were always so evident, it's embarrassing to think Netanyahu and his Ultranationalist coalition are somehow different from what came before them.
[~18:15] There's no problem of a solution. If you're talking about refugees, they should have been out of the camps 20 years ago. We almost took out of the camps many refugees in the Gaza Strip since the 6-day war, but there is room for the refugees in Jordan and there is no doubt that if they want a peaceful solution, Jordan is the natural place for Palestinians if they want to live there.
[~18:50] There are 20 independent Arab countries, but if the Palestinians want to come to more of self-expression, there's no doubt that between Israel and Jordan there would be one Arab state - Jordan. And that part across the border of Israel, that's an Arab state, that's Jordan. They call it Palestine, Jordan, Palestine, doesn't make a bit of difference.
