It is with a heavy heart that I write to you on the first red cove day of 2023, a day that witnessed the ruthless #hunting and #slaughter of ~10 innocent Risso's #dolphins in #Taiji. The dolphins fought hard to escape but after a 2 hour chase, the entire #pod was forced into the cove and brutally killed.
Our team is not just standing by. At the end of August we submitted an appeal
Male-defaultism in #archaeology is bloody annoying.
Just because someone draws a #hunting scene in a #cave, doesn't mean it was a man doing so or depicting one.
Every #archer grave from the Bell Beaker Era MUST be #male because even when they find #female additions, that just means she is related to a great man or the male lost status (of course).
Archaeologist Randy Haas just assumed he found a male big game hunter in Peru in 2013. Except he didn't.
A #GrayWolf killed in a January #coyote hunt in #Michigan's southern Lower Peninsula; #DNR investigating how it got there.
The harvest was potentially the 1st time a gray wolf has been identified in the Lower Peninsula since the species was wiped out driven to [#extinction] from the state in the early 20th century, MI Dept of #NaturalResources said.
LOL very large #spider currently #hunting on my #desk. Maybe it's telling me it's time to neaten my workspace up a bit. Moving too fast for a photo, however!
I've converted most of my #Semgrep rules for C/C++ #vulnerability#research into weggli patterns. In this new article on the @hnsec blog I provide some guidance on how to integrate this small yet powerful tool in your #bug#hunting workflow.
'Man the Hunter is dead!'
Supposedly, because a new study shows #women doing some #hunting across almost all hunting societies. That sure doesn't mean men DON'T hunt or that men's contribution doesn't matter.
#Hadza women (and children) will opportunistically take small animals -- they can #scavenge off lion kills! But when it comes to #large game -- that's men.
Issues of Forest and Stream, Rod and Gun from 1878, 1879 and 1881. This was after Rod and Gun was folded into Forest and Stream, but half a century before Forest and Stream was swallowed up by Field and Stream. The final issue of Field and Stream was in 2015. #outdoors#hunting#fishing#vintage#antique#magazines#history
"Guidry asked him to estimate how many turtles weighing more than one hundred pounds he had caught in Toledo Bend. Without hesitation, Colo answered 'five hundred.'"
#Hunting laws regarding wolverines mean that they run a much greater risk of getting shot in Norway than in Sweden. They are however not smart enough to avoid Norway. On the contrary, they see Norway as a nicely empty area where it's easy to find territory. So the net migration goes west.
Another one! And that is ignoring the Kites, Harriers and Ospreys that have disappeared. While I welcome the new Wildlife bill, it it time sanctions/penalties became serious. Jail time and removal of Grouse licences shopuld be just a start.
