📖 According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, the world will end on a Saturday. A Saturday quite soon, in fact.
The whole of our six-part adapation of @neilhimself and Terry Pratchett's wonderful 1990 fantasy Good Omens is on BBC Sounds now - and you can listen from anywhere in the world. Tell your friends, good or evil.
Despite its sensationalist pulpy title and #ColdWar premise, Jack Arnold's adaptation of the #RichardMatheson novel is an existentialist treatise.
The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) plays with the understanding of what it means to be acknowledged as a human, and one's place in the world. The story is told through the eyes of the titular Shrinking Man – Scott Carey – who after being exposed to strange fog, finds himself increasingly lost in this world.
I know I tend to give the impression that I only watch #CDramas and #KDramas & have given up on Western shows. But there are great shows still. "From" is one of them. One of the very few shows that can scare the bejesus out of me 😅
Think "Lost" but 10x scarier. Those folks in the plane crash had a vacation in Bali compared to these poor schmucks.
With all the hoopla around Punk/Elite, I thought it’d be a good time to post this anthology. For those who don’t know, TVChase was a reddit-user with a strong background in gathering and examining information (they worked in a newsroom, I believe). Their series breaks down how the feud may have been a work from the very...
the need to vent is quite strong this morning. This week is going ot be so full of drama that i'm already tired for the rest of the week.
Drama pt 1: My coworker (who's new, been working with us for about 2 months now i think) is wantint to go to a local convention. he was going to take vacation time but our supervisor said that he could use flex time for it and work a day he'd normally have off to cover the time (if i was ok on my own for the day he'd have off, which is no problem). #drama
So, remember the fediverse initiative Project Mushroom? Turns out Eric Holthaus, who was running that project, signed up the users of that service (including me) to his newsletter without asking.
Project Mushroom, which continued on without him, is PISSED.
I'm 4 episodes in and there's no violence, no dramatic moments and no traumatic experiences.
It's all about status and competition. Both in the Korean society and among people working for hagwons.
Most #CDramas lose my interest after the 20th episode, but not this one! #BloodOfYouth was tightly plotted, the characters so interesting. Although the "magic" martial arts took some getting used to, this was a classic #Wuxia tale. So you have the themes of brotherhood, loyalty, chivalry and honor that the genre is known for. Now I have a hangover because it ended "too soon" and I don't think I can watch anything this good in a long while. 😭
The oldest entry on IndieWire's list of the best teen dramas was first broadcast in 1979, but the majority of shows that made the cut are from after 2000, when there was a huge boom in the genre. Here's the magazine's ranking of 42 shows. Which do you think came in at No. 1? Take a look at the list after you've voted and tell us if you think they got it right.
Joy of Life sounds like a typical wuxia drama until the "oh btw he has memories of the 21st century" bit.
Wut that feels so random lol. But a lot of people have spoken super highly of this show so I guess I need to add this to my ever expanding list of #cdramas 🙃
A coming-of-age drama about a group of teenagers trying to be "royal sorcerers" who protect the world against supernatural creatures. It doesn't break new ground, but it what I call a "comfort watch".
#Drama#CDrama #KDrama fans - @glitchontwitch and I are having an #EnigmaWatchParty before/around Halloween.
It's a short 4 episode supernatural non-romantic #ThaiDrama that's creepy but not too scary and really good. Very bingeable.
Anyone want to join us?

There is something weirdly addictive about #BloodOfYouth. I usually hate "video game" wuxia with the flying sparkling kung fu, but the characters are compelling.
Doesn't hurt that Li Hong Yi (Xiao Se) is so pretty 🤭
The Last Empress was a phenomenal episode whose theme ironically was imprisonment & executions.
I do like how Hober Mallow came in to save the day (pun not intended) & how the Empire was shown to be weak during a time of crisis.
The backstabbing by one Cleon against another was not surprising, although the look in Demerzel’s eyes reveals a startling truth: she is loyal to the first Cleon—& him alone.
That prison, in the end, brings up more questions, which makes me wonder if it was a prison for Demezel & if she has other minions like her around‽ Yes, she says she is the last machine, but that might not be true.
I was sad to see the monster meet its noble end. I wish the monster killed Day & then we could see the effects of another clone taking his place.
📞 "Something happened which, by my calculation, can't happen."
A new adaptation of a lost 1952 radio drama by science-fiction legend and Quatermass creator Nigel Kneale, starring Reece Shearsmith, Toby Jones and Caroline Catz.
Finished the second season of From and hope it gets a third. Binged through it - it is that good eventho I was petrified for most of it 🤣 Seriously underrated show. The best thing about this show is all the theorization that happens around it after every episode. Do watch it if you can. So rare to see something original on Western #television these days.
French Actress Sarah Bernhardt was born #OTD in 1844.
Called "la Voix d'or" by Victor Hugo, "la Divine" by others, or "l'Impératrice du théâtre", she is considered one of the greatest French tragédiennes of the 19th century. The first international "star", she was also the first actress to make triumphant tours of all five continents, Jean Cocteau coining the term "monstre sacré" for her. via @wikipedia
🌒 Got 269 minutes? A desire to lose yourself in the realm where drama and religion become one? Peristent urge to explore the opposing realms of lust and compassion?
NEW: A Dream of Splendor – review: Finally, a Chinese drama that is not just beautiful to look at, but is well acted, authentic, and celebrates womanly ideals and the female gaze.
If you could play only 1 Game for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
And why? For me, i would definitely choose minecraft, it would just feel like real life after a while. Also add a VR and you don't have to leave haha
Just woke up after a day offline and after seeing the mess i decided to jump ship
