In yet more surprising Sunday cycling news, I have been signed up as a domestique by today’s victorious #TourDeFrance Grand Classification team, to help haul Jonas Vingegaard to his third successive win next summer🚴♂️
Now all I have to do is lose 40 years & 30kg, while gaining 20km/h, a new left knee, & a knowledge of what “mountains” are 🤷♂️🤪
The Dutch undercover wielrennerpolitie (race cycling police) came to my house this afternoon, saying they had received reports of a middle-aged man in Lycra with less than perfectly locked-in cycling shoes when pedalling 🩴
They insisted on inspecting my cleats 😬
My punishment? Replacements to be fitted immediately & increased kilometres to be ridden despite the current windy conditions 💨🚴♂️

It’s been ages since my last bicycle was stolen, and I really missed cycling… So I eventually got myself a SUGG Compacto: a no nonsense, non-electric, non-folding, compact bicycle, made here in Brussels just a couple of hundred meters from me.
Can’t wait to take it on many adventures in and around Brussels, or on the luggage rack of a train to places further away…

Different clouds patterns there during this evening’s 52km ride, but still interesting. Even more so if Apple’s godforsaken ultrawide JPEG smoothing hadn’t obliterated all subtlety 🙄
Oh, & that’s 3000km cycling so far in 2023. Way behind my usual rate thanks to illness, injury, travel, & weather, so let’s see how the rest of the year goes 🤞

Taki mały #throwback do zeszłotygodniowej ultrarajzy z Sopotu do Gniezna przez Przekop na Mierzei i Malbork. Pierwotna trasa została zmieniona w trakcie przepływu na drugi brzeg Wisły. Finalnie było 370 km, podziwiając piękne krajobrazy i odkrywając ciekawe miejsca. No i kwadraty:))
Looking for #ebike recommendations by for my short wife. She’s 4’10” (on a tall day she says), and is looking for something to get her around the city.
A lot of e-bikes tend to be big, heavy clunkers with big batteries. I’ve been looking at the #tern vectron, #BromptonBike c series, #pedego boomerang, and a few other folding and micro bikes.

Just a 54km evening ride around the Vlietland to check out the lungs & limbs – seemed to go ok 🙇♂️
Nice & sunny for a 70km ride to the nature reserve at Buitenplats Leyduin & back. The woods are more for walking than cycling, but it’s always good to make a stop there 🌳
