Got a chance to watch #WesAnderson's latest, Asteroid City. He's one of those #directors (along with either/both of the #Cohen brothers) that I will watch anything he creates, without knowing anything about it.
He's got a distinctive #visual#style that gives him away, but #AsteroidCity reinforces my hypothesis that the thing that truly is his signature is that every single character in his #movies is #insane, and none of them know it, about themselves or each other.
Watched the #WesAnderson movie #AsteroidCity this evening. His movies are always a visual treat, and the scenes are crafted like a diorama. A rather hard-to-interpret plot, but very fun and engaging storytelling techniques.
This one will take some thinking and maybe another watch to sort it out though.
We saw #AsteroidCity and it was fine. I mostly got the vibe of everybody just showing up and having some fun. Lots of little enjoyable moments. The witches (or witch-alien hybrids, or fairies) were my favorite characters.
My daughter got us tickets for the new Wes Anderson film Asteroid City for Father's Day. In some ways it was like The Royal Tenenbaums with an astronomical theme but in other ways it was very mysterious - almost Lynchian. I think I'm going to have to see it again! #AsteroidCity
Noticing that the #AsteroidCity screenplay will be available at the end of June. I think that the intricate theatrical dialogue would make picking it up worth while.
Not surprised but disappointed in the vitriol in some of the negative reviews of #AsteroidCity.
If you go into an art gallery you can find realistic portraits and landscapes, slightly more abstract art as in pointillism, impressionism and Van Gogh, more experimental work like paintings from Picasso, and completely abstract work from Pollock and Mondriaan. These are all incredibly talented artists and if you don't like something, fine, but don't just slam it as crap.
