Got a chance to watch 's latest, Asteroid City. He's one of those (along with either/both of the brothers) that I will watch anything he creates, without knowing anything about it.

He's got a distinctive that gives him away, but reinforces my hypothesis that the thing that truly is his signature is that every single character in his is , and none of them know it, about themselves or each other.

Watched the movie this evening. His movies are always a visual treat, and the scenes are crafted like a diorama. A rather hard-to-interpret plot, but very fun and engaging storytelling techniques.

This one will take some thinking and maybe another watch to sort it out though.

“The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar”, short (40 minutes) by Wes Anderson after the story by Roald Dahl.

It stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, and Richard Ayoade. All of whom are absolutely fabulous. 👌👍❤️

I just watched it on and I’ve lined up the rest from the four-part series of shorts: "The Swan", "The Rat Catcher" and "Poison".

    Watching Beetlejuice. K mentioned G. del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, which made us imagine a Wes Anderson horror movie.

    And now I'm thinking that a Wes Anderson Westworld would look a lot like the 1973 version, except for a lot of camera angles.

    @mjgardner@social.sdf.org avatar

    @jacobydave I’d love to see a stop-motion #WesAnderson’s #Westworld (“Wesworld”?) à la “Fantastic Mr. Fox” or “Isle of Dogs.”

    The human characters could start out obviously different than the androids’ #GerryAnderson #Supermarionation-style #puppets, and over the course of the film each side’s appearances would converge and become indistinguishable.

    Wes Anderson m'avait perdue et ennuyée avec ses deux derniers films, mais j'ai adoré sa collection de courts métrages sur Netflix.
    L'inventivité dans la manière de raconter ces histoires est constamment surprenante (c'est franchement du jamais vu, ces déploiements de décors).
    Et les récits de Roald Dahl, délicieusement tordus, m'ont tenue en haleine.
    Bien ouéj tout le monde (sans oublier les comédiens).

    Gotta say: This was the first #WesAnderson movie I didn't like.

    Might be because it's his first anthology. Just...the connecting theme is really, really boring. Also: I don't mind reading subtitles, but at least keep them consistent and to a minimum.

    Furthermore, he really overplays his hand in style, substance, and casting.

    Have fewer people and stick to better characters, damn it! #movies

    GIF from "The French Dispatch": Julian Cadazio (Adrien Brody), wearing a coat, suit and matching hat, stands in front of large prison door, raises his hands in frustration, and gives out an agitated scream. Two more people in similar outfits and two armed guards can be seen in the background.

    😱 I found my old pixel art! (Thought it was lost forever)

    For a while in 2018 I thought I would try my hand at it. I ended up doing about 32 in total, by participating in Pixel Dailies.

    All were created in the tool Aseprite.

    I'm pretty happy with some of them, others were terrible. And it all took too much time (Especially the animated ones) 😅

    I won't post them all here, just some highlights if that's ok.

    Starting with the first one I ever did.

    An animated pixel art squirrel, facing the camera, eating a nut. The background is solid gray, and a 1:1 scale of the squirrel is show in the top left corner (32px by 32px) along with the colour palette used.

    christian,
    @christian@aldr.social avatar

    So then I started increasing the size, not only the the initial canvas, but also the colour palettes.

    This one was toooooo big, but I got it done in the end 😅

    The Grand Budapest Hotel. I'm not sure how I got there from the prompt "Titlescreen" - I think I had recently watched the movie so really wanted to do this scene, so just imagined it as though there was a game for it.

    #PixelArt #Aseprite #MastoArt #WesAnderson

    Pixel art recreation of the hotel from the Wes Anderson movie, The Grand Budapest Hotel. The hotel is very grand looking, with pale pink hues and a purple roof with spires. The text "Play" and "Options" is present in the bottom left corner, because I was following a pixel daily prompt, and this one was "Titlescreen" - but uh... I really wanted to do the hotel at the time - so I imagined what the titlescreen for a game based on the movie might look like.
