#Firefox 126.0.1 is out now to fix issues with drag-and-drop functionality on #Linux, an issue with reading tagged PDF documents in a screen reader, and an issue causing high GPU memory usage on certain versions of #AMD GPUs. Get it at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/download/thanks/
The production of our ultra-portable workstation, the TUXEDO Pulse 14 - Gen4, starts today. If you have already ordered, there are only a few days left until your order arrives!
Hey, Mastodon … I’m trying to track down an #AppleNewton developer named Stephen A. Cronin.
He worked at #AMD and operated a software company called TapTech based out of Austin, Texas in the late 90s. I’ve managed to contact his former software partner, Francis Preve … but Francis lost touch with Stephen years ago.
Together they released a sequencer program for #NewtonOS called NR404 and I’m hoping the source code still exists somewhere.
My old monitor died recently and I bought a #CRG9 to replace it. I have a #AMD#Radeon 6500XT, I run #Arch#Linux with #Xorg and #EXWM and the #Compton/#Picom compositor. I bought the monitor for productivity issues as I'm not much of a gamer, the only games I play these days are Tagpro, a simple capture-the-flag browser game, and Chess.
The hilarious thing about Microsoft going all in on AI with #CoPilot and #Recall, they threw Intel and AMD under the bus. The whole last year of "AI PCs" won't get features like Recall.
The consumer reaction to Recall has been overwhelmingly negative, but all these companies are afraid of shareholders and investors wanting more AI hype to make stock prices look good.
But #AMD and #Intel have all these chips made that are falling in price fast.
You can find some CRAZY deals on computers right now that WONT run Recall, but are over-kill powerful for home systems.
Mini PC's used to sell chips that were two or three years old. This Geekom is using AMD's current laptop chip, with 32GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage for $899!
It's a REAL good time to shop a NON Recall compatible PC.

This tiny PC is now packing the most powerful laptop chip AMD makes!
Funnily enough, Microsoft threw AMD and Intel under the bus.
NONE of the current selling "AI" PCs qualify for the "CoPilot" branding.
Who knows, maybe you don't want that new Microsoft Recall feature on your system anyway?
Socket AM5-based AMD EPYC is now a thing. This is similar to the playbook that Intel uses for their entry level Xeon processors; except, AMD doesn't have hybrid cores that need disabling while Intel shuts off E cores.
AnandTech: One More EPYC: AMD Launches Entry-Level Zen 4-based EPYC 4004 Series
I'm not actually hoping for AMD and Intel to overtake NVIDIA in the GPU market. I'd rather see their integrated GPUs get so good that we don't need dedicated GPUs anymore.
@gregorni i use a @frameworkcomputer 13 with #AMD#Ryzen 5 and integrated graphics but dont Play on that machine. Bunttake a Look at ETA Prime on YT. He does a Lot of AMD powered small PCs...
And also consoles! PS5, Xbox Series and Valve Steam Deck. All AMD!
My dream Xbox Series S unlocked with Steam OS or derivative like @UniversalBlue and @chimera_linux
AMD P-State Preferred Core handling for modern Ryzen systems. This is for leveraging ACPI CPPC data between CPU cores for improving task placement on AMD Ryzen systems for cores that can achieve higher frequencies and also helping in hybrid selection between say Zen 4 and Zen 4C cores. This AMD Preferred Core support has been in development since last year.
Performance gains on AMD 4th Gen EPYC
AMD FRU Memory Poison Manager merged along with other work as part of better supporting the AMD MI300 series.
AMD has continued upstreaming more RDNA3+ refresh and RDNA4 graphics hardware support into the AMDGPU driver.
I find it funny that #OrangePi is collaborating with #Manjaro to make a #gaming handheld called #OrangePiNeo and it's not #ARM but just yet another #AMD handheld like the rest of the fleet? Isn't Orange Pi a popular alternative to #RaspberryPi that sells ARM-based SBCs?
Power to them I guess but I definitely would love to see more ARM-based #Linux gaming handhelds (not #Android, we have a ton of those already) available, no matter how "not ready" ARM + Linux gaming is. Software support could always be improved and worked on later down the road once the hardware is available to target.
