So I know in this post I was joking about going back to using encyclopedias and dictionaries instead of search engines...but now I'm starting to consider it seriously. 😅
Google is getting worse by the day and AI is ruining everything.
Big news in the #AI world: Current and former employees of #OpenAI and other AI companies like #DeepMind and #Anthropic warn of ethical and safety risks and want a way to publicly whistleblow about these without fear of retaliation.
Call it the battle of the voice assistants. A Tech Radar editor tested Apple’s Siri against Google Gemini and Samsung’s Bixby. He made a list of 25 tasks he expected the AI to complete and graded them all on each. One of them easily outdid the others. Take a guess as to which one it was. https://flip.it/gqv-IQ #Tech#Siri#Gemini#Bixby#AI

Looks like someone in Sweden got up & thought it's a good day to fire up an Azure instance for AI training, using the well-known "Firefox/72" scraper. Well, not with my photos.
It's still going on, but the amount of requests would already equal ~2 GB in volume. One scraper. In less than 24h.
This is the reality when you have a website with visual content. Isn't AI great?
@kellogh Yep, #recall is one of those bad names, that makes you wonder what else was on the shortlist in the meeting.

Torment Nexus...Ahem, sorry, no, but Torment Nexus is already taken for that, you know, 'other', project...
If you are in #education, do you encourage or discourage the use of #ChatGPT among your students? If you encourage it, how do you ensure that the students are still learning the fundamentals? #stem#ai#teaching
