43 one minute exposures of comet Pons-Brooks were combined to create this image showing the remarkable tail structure. Taken using a 93mm refractor between 7pm and 8pm last night #comet#ponsbrooks#NewZealand
Had to go on a bit of a road trip after work tonight to record comet Pons Brooks. The spikey anti-tail was simply magnificent. What a night! #comet#cometponsbrooks#NewZealand
@iangriffin Whereabouts in NZ did you take this, and what kind of gear is required? I had a look the other night in the general direction of Sirius but couldn't see anything, even with a 32s exposure
This report finds "catastrophic" impact for Wellington, #NewZealand, even for an moderate emissions scenario (global warming reaching between 1.7 and 3.2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by 2100).
Warming of 1.7C is not moderate, at least for Wellington.
Maybe time for reports to include current impacts, which are starting to become clear.
Over 400 pictures were combined to make this star trail montage taken today between 01:52 and 05:05am. That is how dull I am. I like to watch the Earth rotate. Also am I the only person annoyed that the path is not aligned due South? #Startrails#NewZealand
I'm privileged to have a wage high enough that this National tax cut will put a few extra dollars in my pocket every week.
I intend to donate that directly to opposition political parties in the hope we can undo all this damage. As soon as possible. Please consider doing the same. #OneTermGovt#nzpol
“Nicola Willis told the country there was no money, but there’s plenty - it’s just that it’s all going to the rich. This budget is class warfare, rich against poor.”

Because I am now "retired" - thanks to Luxon - I have more time on my hands. What better way to spend some of that making a submission on the Māori Wards Bill. Didn't take long at all. I found this document very helpful in making my submission. #nzpol
🇳🇿"New Zealand is experiencing its highest peak in COVID-19 cases since December 2022, professor Michael Baker says."
"Despite the recommended isolation period now only being 5 days, Baker suggested people still getting a positive Covid-19 test wait to test again on day 6 or 7 before going back into society."
"The biology hasn't changed," Baker said, but there was more pressure for people to go back to work and school."

Patriotic New Zealanders occasionally are shocked by the ignorance of those with whom they come in contact abroad of the whereabouts of the best little country in the world. The training of business men does not always include geography, says the Otago “Daily Times,” but a university should not fall into the crude error revealed in an envelope received in Dunedin. A member of the Otago University staff has been in communication with the University of Geneva, and was pained to receive from that distinguished seat of learning the other day a letter addressed: “University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, U.S.A.” https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/EP19240527.2.116
