ai6yr,
ThinkingSapien, I drive an EV. I do not suggest that others drive an EV. It's the car for me, it might not be the car for you. Despite this, I have a friend that constantly engages in discussion with me on why I won't be able to convince her to get an EV.
I have never tried to convince anyone to get one! I'm not sure why she does this.
ThinkingSapien, She does this concerning religious discussions too!
I'm not religious. Whether someone else is religious is their business. I don't care beyond what ever they try to compell me to do becuase of it. Same friend both tells me I won't convince her to become non religious while trying to convert me.
I grew up in a Christian Family! I had the owner of Chick Fil-A as a Sunday school teacher. I am familiar with Christianity, but not convinced. I'm not trying to deconvince anyone else.
LouisIngenthron, @ThinkingSapien Like any hobby, when you enjoy arguing, you'll look for any excuse to do it.
amyfou, We saw our first in real life #cybertruck today and it was pulled over to the side of the highway with its emergency blinkers on
SNerd,
bud_t, We saw a #cybertruck yesterday in #Denver that was painted gloss black. It looked even more ridiculous.
nikatjef, @bud_t
My wife and I saw one in the wild a couple weeks ago. The driver had it set to the highest driving level with custom wheels, and truck nuts. Looked absolutely ridiculous. And to think, I had such high hopes for it at one time.
ai6yr,
drahardja, Someone is selling a $15k Faraday cage for the #Cybertruck for “doomsday” EMP attacks. 🤣🤣🤣
Literally a tinfoil hat for your douchepanzer.
I guess they figure OTA software updates can wait while they’re protecting you from the zombie apocalypse.
A fool and their money, etc.

doctorLURK, @drahardja completely protected from EMPs!
...but laid low by a somewhat large mud puddle 😞
maddad, Looks like Tesla is doing well and expanding everywhere but America....
Thanks #Elon so much for buying AmericanIf you don't have to build them here, then F**K YOU TOO.
We don't need you and your half baked low end products.
nafnlaus, Icelandic
isagalaev, Icelandic @nafnlaus funny that even when he doesn't seem to see the hypocrisy: believing that someone's stature as former President or the triviality of the crime has somehow result in a crime not having to be convicted. They all do actually believe this shit!
Sure, let's assume the trial was politically motivated. So what? The crime was still committed!
binaryphile, Icelandic @nafnlaus Notice Elon doesn't waste his breath asserting that Trump is innocent. So Elon agrees Trump is guilty. Great.

metin, @daniel You've made me curious which of Murphy's laws would apply here. 🙂
KimPerales, #TFG's pro-corruption supporters believe they can convince Independents & mod. Republicans that America should become a banana republic, w/o a justice system that holds a white collar criminal to the same standards as everyone else & rules & regs aren't needed for a country to prosper. Most Americans like the status-quo where ppl who commit crimes, are held accountable. A jury of TFG's peers was just.
#Musk, Republican politicians, RW #Media... won't likely change any minds. #Justice #RuleOFLaw
GottaLaff, Elon #Musk has had another legal blow as his lawyers failed to get a defamation suit filed against him thrown out.
Ben Brody, a Jewish college student, sued the billionaire in October after Musk, Tesla's CEO and the owner of the social media platform X, incorrectly identified him as a member of a neo-Nazi group in Oregon who took part in a violent street brawl.

hanse_mina, Donald #Trump is considering tapping billionaire #Elon #Musk as a policy adviser if the Republican presidential candidate reclaims the White House in November's election, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
The WSJ also said Musk informed Trump about his ongoing influence campaign aimed at convincing powerful #US business leaders not to support Democratic President Joe #Biden, who beat Trump in the 2020 election and is seeking a second term.

GottaLaff, 🤦🏻♀️😳#Trump & #Musk have discussed a possible advisory role for the Tesla leader should TFG reclaim WH, the latest sign that the once-frosty relationship between the 2 has thawed.
The role hasn’t been fully hammered out and might not happen, but they discussed ways to give Musk formal input & influence over policies related to border security and the economy, both issues on which Musk has grown more vocal.

Die fleißige Initiative @ccs_stoppen startet dagegen eine Unterschriftensammlung. Hier zum Downloaden -> https://keinco2endlager.de/ccs-unterschriftenliste/ https://keinco2endlager.de/presseerklaerung-zum-entwurf-des-kohlendioxidspeichergesetzes-ccs/ #GegenGasbohren #KeinCo2endlager #stopCCS
Jigsaw_You,
davemark, "Chinese automaker BYD is rolling out cars capable of driving more than 1,300 miles without refueling or recharging"
That's New York to Miami without a recharge. US cars are lucky to get 1/4 that range.
The bar has been set pretty high.
Oh, and they are priced at $13K. Yikes.
https://apple.news/AQV2DtmurQA-tW6Qln_7hPA
#EV #Tesla #Hybrid #Transportation #Cars
flargh, @davemark Cool, except:
100% US tariff on Chinese EVs makes it a $26K car.
The $13,000 model is Corolla-sized. Corollas sell in the US, but we're a land of SUVs, pickup trucks and CUVs, not compacts (largely because "light truck" CAFE loopholes exist).
It hasn't undergone NHTSA evaluation, which would likely force significant engineering changes and cost increases.
BYD has zero retail sales/ service footprint in the US. That will take BILLIONS to build out.
flargh, @davemark - Every company on Earth markets idealized versions of their products, which often pale under real-world scrutiny. BYD (and even Apple) is no exception.
As with Apple, I see a lot of the mainstream press (especially) regurgitating BYD's marketing spin with no critical analysis.
BYD is touting decent EV range combined with remarkable fuel range to acheive that 1300 mile range. But they haven't indicated how they tested. Is that city driving? highway? a combo? Top speed? (1/2)
strypey, "Backed by billions of dollars in venture capital and established aerospace giants that include Boeing and Airbus, startups across the world such as Joby, Archer, Wisk and Lilium are spearheading this technological revolution, developing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft that could transform the way we travel."
#JameyJacob, 2024
strypey, Just because it's what we're used to, there's no reason passenger air travel has to look like a train with wings and jet engines, whether it runs on kerosene, electric batteries, or something else. It's been fascinating hearing a bit about new, natively-electric passenger vehicle ideas like Seagliders (Wing-in-Ground effect vehicles) and eVTOL (electric Vertical TakeOff and Landing).
mariatta, We had brief power outage and I was weirdly excited because I got to test out the V2L feature from our Ioniq5 EV 😎
💡 V2L: vehicle-to-load, it lets you draw electricity from the EV's battery, without needing to start the vehicle.
I bought the adapter a year ago but didn't have any reason to use it. Now that I know it works, I'm gonna keep it in the frunk for whatever emergency reasons.
hornblower, @mariatta @slab_bulkhead Cool, and your fridge if the outage goes too long!
mariatta, @hornblower @slab_bulkhead Technically possible! (And I've seen other people's post saying they did it) I just didn't have long enough extension cord from the garage to where the fridge / freezer is located.
