@ai6yr We were walking on El Escorpion trail earlier today (I was completely unaware until a few minutes ago that we had walked into Ventura County) and saw a group of about 35 people heading up to the Cave of Munits. Hopefully none of them made it onto your son's radar!
An elderly resident who moved to our rural town asked me if it was true that potato beetles from the farm next door crawled into your ears at night and ate your brain. I said "Only if you're Mrs Potato Head, otherwise your brain is safe."

@ai6yr Apparently flights couldn't land last night. Some were turned around and went back to their starting point (like SFO) for a late night arrival at the opposite end of where they were supposed to be. Fun!

"At 12:04am on Sunday morning, April 14 of 2024, a large response of CHP, Ventura County Fire Department and AMR paramedics were dispatched in response to a major crash occurring on the north bound 101 Freeway near the Camarillo Springs exit.
The CHP had initially listed the incident as possibly resulting from a wrong way driver. At least seven vehicles were involved. Multiple units made access to the incident from the north and south bound sides of the 101, with all north bound lanes being shut down. ..."

11 adults and 3 dogs rescued from the Sespe River Trail on Saturday, March 30th.
"The recent storm over the weekend caused major impacts to the Sespe Trail in the Los Padres National Forest. Rain caused water levels in the Sespe River to rise quickly leaving hikers stranded in harsh conditions. Ground units from the Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department were unable to safely access the areas to lead the groups to safety. Two separate rescue helicopters were dispatched to the area. "

New Deaths: 0 (-2)
Current Hospitalizations: 14 (-17)
Current ICU: 1
Deaths to zero, hospitalizations dropped steeply last week. Single person in the ICU w/COVID. Best these numbers have looked since the pandemic hit here. Will see what it looks like on today's update (for 3/8/24). If there's not bigger numbers this week, it may be the last variant has worked its way through the county and it's tailing off.
