Ever since 'Scavengers Reign' moved to #Netflix I keep seeing everywhere posts raving about how mind-bendingly awesome it is, and I couldn't be happier. I really hope Netflix takes note and treats this fantastic #scifi show better than HBO did.
I mean, if ever I needed more persuading that my #Netflix sub can go away, this is it. (We still have two pre-4K Apple TVs. One is used on my tiny office TV. It works perfectly well with every other service, and so Netflix can go do one.)
Edit: to clarify, HD onwards will work with Netflix. Pre-HD (and pre-tvOS) will not. It’ll be interesting to see how rapidly everyone else does the same. (IIRC, Prime still worked on those old boxes.)
@craiggrannell So this meant those older units only. Which makes sense, it would be weird for Netflix to stop support devices that were still sold barely 2 years ago I think (Apple TV HD?)
Normally, I skip shows on Netflix that have been canceled after their 1st or 2nd season because I just don't want to get into them and end up frustrated. Or, to put it another way, I rarely watch a new Netflix series. I wait for the 3rd season, and then I catch up.
But, I was really intrigued by what I saw about #Sense8 in the previews and ended up binge-watching it.
Damn Netflix for canceling it! I think it's one of their best.
This is my biggest annoyance with #Netflix. They cancel great shows in the middle.
I watched #Atlas last night on #Netflix recommendation. i.e. J-Lo battles robots in a mech suit
I enjoyed it. Well, I enjoyed it while I also programmed on my second monitor. What I can say is that the plot is quite thin; the contrivances are quite contrived.
But what I saw was a more interesting film of childhood trauma and how it drives us as adults. The acting was critiqued on imdb, but I thought it was subtle, damaged, and the best part of the movie's themes.
The thing about the theme, is that it's clearly about Atlas being abused as a 9 year old.
Manipulated by a adult (robot AI or not) to do something intimate they clearly don't understand. And that leading to a life of guilt and shame.
It's important that the film say out loud that it wasn't her fault. I would have liked it to make it clearer that Harlan was a manipulative abuser even before being set free, but the writing can't quite get there.

#scavengersreign is a rare bird, a shooting star. I was lucky enough to see it inside, work on it. Now it's re-released, let's keep this anomaly shining.
Aliens have advanced technology on Earth, instant communication over light years, can influence humans - but give mankind a 400 year warning that they will arrive and squash the bugs.
And half the series is about sending 18g of seeds to another star, and the capsule doesn't even get the trajectory right.
@ascherbaum I've read the 3 books before seeing the serie. So I won't spoil you. But as usual, books are better than movies and motivations and so on are more obvious in your own brain private theatre :)

Ich muss sagen, die Idee für Öffentlich-Rechtliche Inhalte (nochmal) zu zahlen stößt mich genauso ab wie das Konzept, in einem bezahlten Streamingservice Werbung angezeigt zu bekommen.
I watched The Outfit on #Netflix last night, which was a surprisingly good little crime thriller film which felt more like a stage play.
However, one thing stuck with me. The protagonist asked, "A man walks through your door, what about him can you observe? Is he timid, hunched over like a midday clock?"
What's with the midday clock thing? I honestly can't work out what it's supposed to mean?

Nos lo hemos pasado muy bien viéndola y a nivel de cómo los elementos encajan en la animación es sorprendentemente coherente.
Eso sí, es una historia independiente o mejor dicho alejada en el tiempo de las de los 4 juegos principales, contando lo que le sucede al Miyamoto Musashi de Onimusha Blade Warriors (spinoff) y Onimusha Night of Genesis (manga) décadas después, cuando la edad ya le pesa.
Ah, y modelaron la cara de Miyamoto Musashi basándose en la de Toshiro Mifune, que fue uno de los #7Samurai de Kurosawa. Un homenaje precioso tanto al actor como a la leyenda.

@matt I’m getting the warning on one device, but the others are fine. It’s just a matter of time now. Not fussed, there’s rarely anything I want to watch there. My son will feel differently.
