I’ve been looking at the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro for a few days. That would be a real nice device to play pretty much anything up to GC/PS2 and just keep in my bag.

Though Ayaneo currently has the Pocket S on sale and that thing is so much nicer and sleeker, and with how overpowered it is, it’s likely to last longer. It wooouuld be nice to be able to do basic switch emulation if I wanted to, be able to stop carrying my switch around just for the persona games

@sig.dog@bsky.brid.gy is my bridged BSKY account, which for me to see the interactions on your have to follow @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy

Anything with a yellow exclamation mark doesn’t make it across the bridge unless you follow the account to opt-in!

I’ve added the ability to check for BSKY accounts bridged to mastodon based on your BSKY follows to my mastodon <-> bsky account finder tool.

Right now the functionality isn’t very useful unless you’re, like, migrating your BSKY follows to mastodon or vice versa, but I’ve used it a couple times to find people I didn’t know had set up the bridge.

The big issue I’m running in to now is Mastodon’s rate limiting. You can only do 300 requests every 5 minutes against any given server, which is an issue when my BSKY follow list is ~800 users. I’ve got a couple ideas on how to get around that, or forgo the need for a request, but it’ll take some testing. Right now I’m doing a very dirty workaround where I just round robin request the api of multiple large instances (mastodon.social, mastodon.cloud, etc) and limit the requests to max out at 299 per instance.

This is all still on a secondary branch, and it still needs to be boxed up in a UI, but it IS pretty useful

Also I coded for like 2.5 hours without any music or media playing. That NEVER happens. I think if my ADHD brain is properly stimulated or pointed at an engaging task then I can focus without crutches

Furries: "UGH we're such horrible people we ruin everything there was a fire at FWA and obviously furries set it and that means we're just as bad as Rainfurrest and no one will ever want us again!"

1 - the fire was a grease fire that burned through the kitchen wall of the Sear hotel restaurant.

2 - that everyone references "the one bad convention" that happened nearly TEN YEARS AGO when there is a furry convention happening pretty much EVERY WEEKEND somewhere in the world means we have a pretty damn good track record.

@keirFox @tilton I think it’s for-profit run by a church that benefits from it? Super PG, no parties and definitely no sex or fun allowed

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

@tilton @keirFox It also bugs me that it’s left such a huge vacuum in the PNW.

Nobody else will start a con here, and it feels like the cons that are run here don’t strive for much anymore.

We have VancouFur which has terminal bad venues and lack of drive to be anything more than a hallway con despite getting bigger every year, and we have a con that’s run by Christians. It’s like everyone is trying so hard to not be RF that it’s getting in the way of actual good stuff happening.

Everyone just goes to FC and other cons now and it’s absolutely draining the life out of larger PNW cons

Next time I see my doctor I'm going to talk to him about migraines.

@mathias caught the pattern I didn't in the repeated symptoms with various types of headaches I get, and frequent photophobia. No aura.

Combined with the intense dizziness I experienced recently, it's seeming a likely match. My sister has them too.

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

@KayOhtie @mathias I get this semi-often as well, especially when working in a computer all day.

I find my head usually gets better after a short nap and some Tylenol, but I might also have something different because I get, like, what I would describe as image retention when looking at a screen with text on it

Double reminder about this!

One of the cool things about the bridge is that I can go in and view interactions that aren’t making it past the bridge using this link:

https://fed.brid.gy/bsky/sig.dog/notifications

Unfortunately, because of the way the bridge operates due to fedi users requests, a lot of fedi interactions don’t make it to BSKY unless you do the opt-in.

I’m definitely seeing a lot of replies that are bouncing off the bridge due to this

https://furries.club/@lupomancer/112418304203116391

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

Oh man. There’s so many that are bouncing off…

I wonder how viable this is long term. I really don’t like the idea of my bridged account behaving more like an RSS feed.

I’m not too broken up if people don’t follow it, but what REALLY kills me is seeing people putting effort into responses to my posts and having those just disappear. That really sucks for both me and that person!

I wonder if the bridge will get some way to make this work better

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

Given this info I’d really love to prioritize adding a function to my tool to help find bridged BSKY accounts on mastodon but man those BSKY account exports are BRUTAL!

Maybe I’ll try digging into them more later this week

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

@Rusty Dude I hate when twitter users get proven right about the “mastodon is just twitter with HOAs” shtick.

We could have so much if it weren’t for those folks. It’s so easy for a bridge to just respect post privacy, but now the dude has to develop this whole opt-in system because people didn’t think before they speak, as if the bridge wasn’t going to act like literally ANY other AP instance.

Wait till people find out some instances don’t respect deletes or edits like well-kept ones do

lupomancer, to random
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

I have made a VERY quick and dirty tool to check if people you follow on mastodon have corresponding bridgyfed bridged accounts.

Right now it's literally just a thing you run in terminal with node, but I might put some more work into it later to make it prettier

@KayOhtie I THINK it only starts bridging public posts after a bit. It’s definitely still in beta and really buggy and I think it’s getting slammed with traffic right now hahaha
