The distance from picking up the guitar to being able to play music is so far that most people give up before making it through. Building muscle memory and being able to finger those chords without fat fingering the other strings takes longer than you expect. You’re talking about trying to play a song when really you probably need a month on the open chords.

If you are over it then no shame in moving on. If you want to take one more crack at it you’ll have to slow down and just hyper focus on the basics. Or try ukulele! Ukulele is awesome because the cords are a lot easier and you’ll become a strumming master since you won’t be concentrating so hard on the chords. And then later down the line it would give you a good foundation if you take a crack at guitar again

In my opinion there is no such thing as natural talent. There is only practice and muscle memory. Once you’re up and running with robotic hands (Being able to play the chords without thinking about them, being able to strum a few patterns without thinking about them) It opens up the whole world of music and songs

zcd,

Trade one of your guitars for ukulele ha

zcd,

Yeah you explained it much better, They are so much fun! The five string banjo is also 4 strings when it comes to chords, a huge percentage of the skills you learn with these instruments translates to guitar

Gaming on Linux works like a charm now

If anyone hasn’t seen the remake of this (Space Battleship Yamato) I would highly recommend it, its like BSG but with a good ending. An absolute banger!

Tuberville’s Stupid Response to Trump Conviction: “This is a War” (newrepublic.com)

“People in our caucus… to me, they’re not really taking this as serious as we should,” Tuberville said. “American people need to wake up. This is a war; this is a war on our Constitutional rights, our constitutional republic. This is not as much about Donald Trump as it is about the people in this country.”...

You want “More to do” then look no further than wizard! You’re not a beginner anymore, you can handle the unlimited power! You can change your selections of spells each day, you have access to tools for any occasion. Ignore the direct damage spells, look at things that can change your party’s fortune without allowing your enemies a chance to even roll a saving throw. Buff your meatshields (ahem, allies), solve any and all noncombat problems with arcane power. Use your creativity to drive your dm crazy!

If you look at the whole spell list it’s kind of daunting. But you’re starting off at level one I would assume, so you will only have a small portion of the low level spells to look at initially. It’s super manageable If you think about it in small chunks, and you’ll have lots of time to read through the higher level of spells and think about the ones you wanna learn once they are available when you level up. Healing… really? A wizard of your talents?

I just saw above you mentioned that you played wow. It’s kind of the same thing, if you were to look at the endgame skill list of another class that you never played before it would be crazy. But when you start them off at level one there’s just a few mechanics to learn and it’s not overwhelming at all

It really does seem like 11 will be the shit-cherry on the shit-cake as far as user-hostile operating systems go. They are literally going to monitor every single thing the user does on their computer and monetize it. while shoving AI garbage down your throat.

Year of the linux desktop might not be a meme anymore, particularly since gaming works really well…

zcd,

Personally I would say it is incredible nowadays! Boots up nearly instantly, no bloat, no corporation harvesting your data via telemetry or shoving AI up your ass, infinitely customizable, can run nearly any program, can run on any hardware, there are distros for grandma that are dead simple to use and bleeding edge minimalist distros that you can build from the ground up with innovative environments that can change the way you use your computer. I use arch btw

zcd,

If you need any help getting set up the linux memes community is super helpful, heck drop me a line I can help

Was this community banned on lemmy.world? I was trying to access some bookmarked posts and comments but they weren't there.

As stated in the title, I went to some posts and comments that I had bookmarked for some media that I was trying to download. This was on my lemmy.world account. Turns out they’re gone. Doing some digging and found out this community was still up but wasn’t visible on lemmy.world. what happend?

zcd,

By Grabthar’s hammer… what a movie!
