Twitter made a new ad for the platform that features a phone scrolling through Twitter. They ended up pulling it and remaking it after people noticed it contained a tweet mocking Elon for trying to blame Twitter's advertiser exodus on the jews. The second version of the ad, which is still online, contains a tweet about creampieing a rotisserie chicken.

Open source projects: it's almost never worth it to get into a public social media argument—even if the other person is wrong!

At best you might convince some passersby that you're right, but at worst your project just ends up looking argumentative—again, even if you're right!

If you wanna jump into a social media argument, at least switch to your personal account so people have the context of who is saying things.

But usually the best call is to state you disagree (at most), and move on.

OK well now I'm not sure how I feel about this. I've always felt kind of iffy about "calling people out" and I should probably state that this isn't supposed to be a callout post. I think what Ro is doing is OK (good intents), minus some qualms I have with how it's being done. I don't think he's necessarily a bad person, a transphobe, etc. This is just me expressing my worries about administration.

So the thing is, most of the fake outrage being thrown at is a projection of the person doing it.

Almost all of the people who have a problem with the project are white, and they feel like they are being treated unfairly, so they feel their anger is justified. They feel like I am treating them how they inherently feel about Black and Brown people and view this as an injustice.

But the reality is that I am not a bigot and a very fair-minded person. I'm not going to take your shit if you come to me in bad faith, but we can talk because, well, I'm a rational person.

A lot of white people cannot fathom this kind of cooperation because their inherent worldview is based on whiteness, which informs distorted perspectives that cannot comprehend a fair world because they need their entitlement to exist.

The angst I've been seeing all week isn't really about the project. But rather the idea that white people may be treated how the treat everyone else.

That's where all this anger is coming from.

@raphaelmorgan @Are0h ...yeah, however, I'm actually not a big fan of The Bad Space as a concept. In my opinion, I think it would be better as a voting platform, where instance admins (or even users) can vote on what instances are bad, why they are bad, and provide sources and stuff like that. I think that would be a lot better for a decentralized network such as the Fediverse.

Honestly, I was getting a bit ahead in my thoughts with that post, so let me clarify - the thing I'm not a fan of is the "council of trusted instances" thing. I think it's a reasonable idea on paper, but I also think in execution paper there's a lot more variables when it comes to who is trusted, especially with a large resource such as The Bad Space.
I don't know any better ideas right now, though - just that I find this idea iffy.
