I wonder if reporters know that Wikipedia hallucinates too?? And since they so often consider Wikipedia authoritative, that means reporters and their publications hallucinate as well.

timbray,
@timbray@cosocial.ca avatar

@davew The difference is, errors in Wikipedia tend to get systematically fixed. Sometimes it takes more work than it should, but the vast majority of articles are moving in the right direction a vast majority of the time.

From @cstross - “Suddenly every PC becomes a target for Discovery during legal proceedings. Lawyers can subpoena your Recall database and search it, no longer being limited to email but being able to search for terms that came up in Teams or Slack or Signal messages, and potentially verbally via Zoom or Skype if speech-to-text is included in Recall data.”

@cstross These days, #1 on HN generally produces ~5Hz of traffic for a few hours. I manage to survive it without a CDN by serving static-out-of-the-filesystem only. Not 100% convinced the issue is geographic. Anyhow, no biggie, anyone who cares knows enough to check in later in the day.

@cstross Hmm, interesting. I would have expected it to weather the storm. You do have a heavier comment load than average though, by multiple orders of magnitude…

I see that openai.com/gptbot is crawling my blog, top to bottom, side to side. I’m sure OpenAI has consulted the “Rights” link clearly displayed on every page, invoking a Creative Commons license that freely grants rights to reuse and remix but not for commercial purposes.

@mike_vlasman Also, that whole stretch of waterfront between Granville Island and Kits beach is sort of a desert, nowhere to get a coffee or a beer or a pair of sunglasses. Urban waterfronts should be busy. If nothing else, Sen̓áḵw will have retail and hospitality businesses.

It looks like 293-234-16. The NDA is relying on two regional parties for its majority, both of which are notorious alliance switchers: JD(U) by Bihar's chief minister for life, Nitish Kumar; and TDP by the corrupt N. Chandrababu Naidu. INDIA is reaching out to both, but both have said they'll attend the NDA meeting today. https://www.livemint.com/politics/news/elections-results-2024-yashwant-singh-asks-chandrababu-naidu-nitish-kumar-to-switch-to-india-bloc-nda-pm-modi-11717519502678.html https://www.thehindu.com/elections/lok-sabha/elections-results-2024-nitish-kumar-chandrababu-naidu-emerge-kingmakers/article68252063.ece

Tl;dr: Defederation works better than the tools available to centralized-network moderators. It doesn’t reduce toxic behavior by those blocked, but who cares? Also, they gathered a really interesting data set.
