Pretty cool how my old iPod touch from over 10 years ago has nearly 3000 songs loaded up and there's no way for me to recover any of them

Radical idea for social media: we should be able to leave a like on other people's like actions. If somebody likes (or "favorites" in Mastodon parlance) my post, I should be able to express that I like that they liked what I had to say

We could continue giving each other back and forth likes until eventually two accounts bound together in reciprocal liking reach the like singularity

@rootcompute@mastodon.social avatar

@buru5 I'm a simple man, all I want to do is be able to like your repost of my like that was left on your like from my post

When I say I have been indulging these unsolicited algorithmic aggregations of my media library for far too long...

Here's one dated December 27th, 2011. Can't even tell which software made it.

@DavidBlue Noo this is cool! I miss my old CRV and in-good-condition drum set. Thank you for sharing

My solution to hearing the neighbours' kids across the wall? Upgrade to 60 Watts.

They are going to learn every song by The Offspring, wether they like it or not. It's not my problem if your kids ain't all right.

@lonelyautomata Dope setup. That MP3 player looks cool. I need to get something like that soon

@jake4480 @buru5 I never leave home without my trusty elmers bottle that I piss directly into when it becomes empty

@lonelyautomata Can never be too safe, might as well just dump the entire bottle on the dough before adding anything else. I will be content if it makes me hallucinate like the AI overlords

Downloading your own music, reading independent writers you like and being content using older technology is counterculture

@Cefr Lol there's never a bad place to nerd out! I may have been more inclined today if we didn't take the dog -- he insisted on standing on my lap so he could watch the road ahead

@lonelyautomata Lol not too bad, I barely noticed anyway. The bag sat in the car the entire time

I've accepted that streaming services like Hulu will never give me a simple playlist option so I could just load it with my favorite episodes from my favorite shows and let it run (and not have to constantly fucking select them).

I also reserve the right to be forever annoyed about this

rootcompute,
@rootcompute@mastodon.social avatar

@jake4480 Yet another W for piracy. Streaming services cant stop catching Ls

Some people like making drama because they're bored. You have to recognize those kinds of people, remember that about them, and avoid them if possible (or as much as possible) if you don't wanna waste your time

rootcompute,
@rootcompute@mastodon.social avatar

@jake4480 You can't avoid them when you live in a small town lmao

I have it on good authority that "Switch 2" (named the "Swipe") is a card-based console with a card reader built into the unit. The cards, once swiped, unlock access to: full games, wallpapers, avatars, DLC, and even apps like Hulu, YouTube, and Netflix. The Swipe will be released by the end of Q2 2025, alongside over 200 cards purchased separately in booster packs.

One of the neat things about this is that, if you still have old e-Reader cards, you can swipe them for fun extras.

rootcompute,
@rootcompute@mastodon.social avatar

@buru5 Hoping all of the games are card-based too. The best video games are the ones where you have to play a card before performing any type of action

rootcompute,
@rootcompute@mastodon.social avatar

@buru5 A card-based sequel could be just what the F-Zero fanbase needs in 2025

May I suggest Persona 5: Royal?

Here's my collection!

The purple Game Boy Color was my first ever game system, followed by the purple and then the blue SP. The original DMG needs some repairs and replacement parts, it was a garage sale pickup years ago.

I use the a lot nowadays, but I still try to make time for the . The mini handhelds can be a nice change of pace as well! Do you still like old school handhelds? Let me know!

rootcompute,
@rootcompute@mastodon.social avatar

@fmn LOL I would love to get an rg35xx or something equivalent soon, outside of the Steam Deck I haven't been able to purchase a new handheld in several years. Glad you like!
