I still think there is a place for a self-hosted open source FriendFeed, with #activitypub and #webmentions on top, there is still room for a decentralized social feed reader that can mix all kinds of feed sources.

We'll need a "cool off" period in the #fediverse

People are going to be caught between either block decisions made by their instance admin (they agree with or not)

And the opposite, getting cut off from part of the net bc you find yourself in the wrong instance for any reason.

It means, admin have a special responsibility to alert people BEFORE going ballistic in one side or the other.

We have the right to retain our follows/following, pre-emptive block WILL cut hole in the social graph.

You get to understand how the fundamentalist currently dismantling human rights in the 🇺🇸 captured evangelist, radio stations, churches, adapted to the internet era and the big data post Obama voters databases, how they funnel dark money to a network of "non-profits" that are literally putting US democracy at risk.

2024 is the last chance because the next Trump isn't going to improvise.

How long until #instances start blocking perfectly fine instances because they didn't block #meta ?

How long until you stop seeing your friends on the #fediverse because they are "in the wrong instance" ?

I personally think that segregation, gated communities, borders, walls are not good for the network itself, and that blocking should be an individual choice, not enforced by anyone.

But to grok me you'd need to understand coercive groups & cults toxicity / group thinking drifts.

Unless your admin defederate & block spiders, all the things we fear about #meta or #google are ALREADY happening, right now.

This post is Public, our instances are public, our toots may already be feeding an AI, we just don't know it (yet) I'm not saying that we should quit or geofence the web but unless parasiting and vulturing isn't stopped at the source, I'm not sure how we keep the web open and big corps or small corps away from our data.

Something I really really can't wait to be able to use and have on #activitypub #mastodon #calckey etc.. Is Public Lists that we can follow, heck even better, Public lists that a curated bunch of people can craft and then have those Public Lists as much visible than the current Directory of people on each instance.

And yes, people should have the right to set "I don't want to be in any public or private lists" on their account to stay in control.

Parfois ça me fait quand même flipper que "Bouddhisme, la loi du silence" pour lequel j'ai fait la narration et aussi acté en réel toute la partie OKC, que ce documentaire a fait plusieurs millions de vues au total, sur ARTE, YouTube et autres plateformes.

Et que malgré tout, toucher au #Bouddhisme en #France et en Occident reste un tabou ultime.

Quel impact réel ? Quasi nul.

This "group think" to cancel entire servers for one supposed instance of X or Y deviating 1 sec from the norm is very #Cultish and it's honestly very sad.
