Today I learned about graph databases at a Neo4j, and it felt magical. I remember back when I went to a NoSQL meetup event over a decade ago and feeling the same then.

I freaking love databases. I can see how useful this one is for finding n-nearest neighbor relationships. Ugh, so cool!

Since starting my sabbatical back in April, I've not done a lot of tech stuff. Mostly been visiting friends at confs, climbing up mountains, sitting in hot water, and working out. (Also learning how deep learning works, but never you mind that.)

In the end I came to the conclusion that I miss having fun, at work and in life.

I'm making some life changes in pursuit of having more fun. Stay tuned.

Seeing Julia Evans and Randall Monroe closing out #strangeloop was a major highlight for me. I used to make comics for a living, and I love how both of them have used words and pictures to teach and connect with people in this space
