    This is what I posted on the 404 story about the difference between .com and .org.

    Hey 404 Crew. Thank you for fixing the last article on WordPress.com and Tumblr.com selling user data to OpenAI and MidJourney. Again in this article you were careful to mention that it's WordPress.com, owned by Automattic, not WordPress.org which is the open source project. But in your headlines you don't have the .com. So this is still spreading FUD. /1

    WordPress.org is mostly what powers 40%+ of the web not WordPress.com, which is Automattic's hosted version.

    Please be careful with this as we don't need panic.

    Just got blindsided by a non-web designer telling me that WordPress, which powers 40%+ of the Web, is dead. And Squarespace and other closed platforms are the places to be.

    They asked me if I've ever seen a good looking Website made with WordPress. I had to laugh, I do WordPress sits for a living and yes I know quite a few that are really nice looking and work well. LOL

    Had to vent, but my goodness. And I don't think they were trying to be nasty, but just grossly uninformed.
