hello netherlands you mean to tell me I don't need to download a separate app for every local transportation system for every city I visit but can simply use my existing credit, debit, or EC card as both payment and ticket?

Die Polizei Bremen hat heute Schulausflug und kontrolliert mit ca 60 Ppl. auf dem teil der Wachmanstraße der Fahrradstraße ist Fahrräder.

Schön wenn man im Rest der Stadt überfahren wird aber dann auf einem StVZO konformen Bike ....

@kayperina ich fahre fast täglich über den Stern, Theater am Leipnitzplatz, die Menge and Autos die da auf Ampeln stehen, auf Fahrradwegen stehen, Vorfahrt missachten etc. ist hoch und z.T. auch Polizeifahrzeuge.
Kein Wunder das sich in Bremen gefühlt niemand an die Verkehrsregeln hält, wenn allen beteiligten am wichtigsten ist Fahrradfahrer zu gängeln.

t.l3r.me hat sehr viele bot accounts die von Twitter gescraped wurden, kein content und links verlinken zu irgendwelchen spam/scam Seiten.

Wenn man, wie ich, nach ex-twitter Accounts sucht stößt man da leider Recht schnell drauf

Die #DeutschlandStehtAuf Proteste haben mich seit Jahren wieder an seine Worte & Sicht auf das Thema #Diversity erinnert.

Auf LinkedIn wuerde man wohl von "Leadership" faseln... ich finde es einfach nur gross, was er den Auszubildenden mit auf den Weg gibt!

@pallenberg USAF bringt, mit Diversität und Vielfalt, die Demokratie! Bald auch in einem Land in ihrer Nähe.

Also Taten und Worte klafft fast nirgendwo mehr auseinander als im Militär recruiting.
Irgendwie muss man die Leute ja dazu bringen, bereit zu sein für Ihr Land ihr Leben zu geben.
Das jetzt als gutes Beispiel für motivation und diversität zu nehmen, weiß ich nicht.

Ich glaube es gibt ähnlich motivierende Wortbeiträge von Menschen aus weniger fraglichen Institutionen.

@pallenberg dann kannst du ja bestätigen oder korrigieren ob (zumindest für die deutsche Luftwaffe) das was beim recruiting erzählt wurde auch so stimmte?

In den U.S.A. (und der Typ ist kein Luftwaffengeneral wenn ich das richtig zuordne) werden grade Menschen aus Minderheiten und prekären Verhältnissen in die Armee rekrutiert und meistens decken sich Versprechungen und Realität eher wenig.

Was das mit Putin oder der deutschen Luftwaffe zutun hat verstehe ich nicht ganz.

    @Newk @Tausendschoen @SheDrivesMobility das war ja aber nicht der Punkt, sondern das sehr viele Leute helfen könnten, dies nicht tun und nach OPs Eindruck größtenteils männlich gelesene Personen waren.
    Man kann auch jede Diskussion als einen Angriff derailen, muss man aber nicht. (Zumal die Überholtheit dieser Rollenbilder in der Gesellschaft auch noch eher utopisch ist)

    Brought my CO2 monitor to tonight's in-person General Plan Advisory Committee meeting, where we tackle extremely multidisciplinary work planning for the next 25 years.

    Noting that the 2015 study by Joseph Allen showed a 15% cognitive decline at ~945ppm and 50% decline at ~1400ppm, I had to offer some feedback to the city staff that we were not set up for success (not to mention COVID safety). Next time I suspect we'll have the HVAC turned on 😅

    A chart showing the CO2 levels were at 1747ppm at 9:40pm when the meeting ended. CO2 levels had crossed 1000ppm shortly after the meeting started, and were above 1400ppm for the last hour and 40 minutes of the meeting.

    @ViolaB plane spotter? Sind Menschen die sich mit Kameras in der Nähe von Flughäfen aufhalten um die unterschiedlichen Flugzeuge zu dokumentieren, gibt es auch in der "Zug" Ausführung als "train spotter"

    Stupid and unclear booking horizons

    My trip is Madrid Atocha - Sevilla - Huelva, 23 October

    Tickets and times for Madrid - Sevilla are known, and indeed the cheap tickets for some trains are already sold out. But times are not known, and ticket sales not open, for Sevilla - Huelva.

    What do I do? Book the first bit now, assume the Sevilla - Huelva timetable does not change, and book that second bit later? 🤔

    You could still do that in a logical system as well, just add a "late fee" for e.g. next day bookings, I don't think it would be needed if capacity is planned correctly, but still people would know what to expect

    @quixoticgeek @Squig @jon I wouldn't advocate for it, just saying that the fact of having a transparent pricing scheme doesn't hinder different price politics but would be nice to have. On a route I regularly travel, it is cheaper to go two stations further than I needed to go, since it then ended in a different state and gave other ticket fares. And in my experience the overcrowding of trains is in most cases preventable by other means (e.g. not use the smallest train configuration on holidays)

    The thing that nags at me with the endless “the state should run the railways!" or “we need more private firms in railways!” fight is the ideological nature of it.

    Some state railways aren't very good
    Some private railway firms are likewise terrible

    And yes, the opposite is true as well - some state railways are excellent, and some private railways very good too

    Sorry if the world doesn't fit your neat ideological frame

    @jon one problem I see, at least in Germany, is that the strange mixute of a de facto monopoly from a state owned private Enterprise that has false incentives (e.g. bridges will be paid by the government if the repair is to costly) is the worst of all worlds.
    I would argue for state owned and run infrastructure and would leave the rest up for debate.
    Are there people with any arguments for privately owned infrastructure?

    Ist eher clickbait in der Überschrift, die US Militär Polizei ist am Wochenende vor ort, da es zu Gewalt Ausübung durch US Militärangehörige kam, die in der Nähe stationiert sind. Die werden also vermutlich nicht deutsche Polizeiaufgaben übernehmen.
