By removing direct dvdread support, mpv broke DVD ripping for me since it now jumps to the dvd menu after the title I want to rip, producing a garbage output file. I tried alternatives like dvdbackup and handbrake, but both are not usable. The latter crashed at some point.

Seems I do have to write my own code again just to be able to batch rip DVDs on the command line. If that happens, it will be released here:

Ich verstehe nicht, wie es ein Erfolg sein kann, wenn die Chatkontrolle weiterhin auf der Agenda steht, sowohl im EU-Rat als auch im Parlament.

Abstimmungen zu verschieben heißt ja nur, dass ein günstiger Zeitpunkt abgewartet wird, um die Chatkontrolle zu beschließen. So wie letztes Jahr kurz vor Weihnachten bei anderen EU-Vorhaben.

Why did the Israeli secret service did not know about the preparations of the attack by Hamas so that it could have been prevented? Could it be that secret services are completey useless in "matters of national security"?

Those that want to hide from secret services will always find ways. Those that cannot hide are open to espionage and surveillance despite being law-abiding. It's all about control.

This is all the PHP code you need to recover the samples of an unsaved Tenacity/Audacity project and transfer them into a raw (headerless) audio file.

Once you have the raw (headerless) audio file, you can then open it with Tenacity/Audacity again using File -> Import -> Raw data. Set the sample format, audio channels and sample rate according to the recovered project data and you can continue processing it.

Ganz ehrlich, als langjährige Event Orga verstehe ich das man wenig Lust hat Schutzmaßnahmen umzusetzen wenn man sie nicht vorgeschrieben bekommt, denn man muss sie auch kontrollieren und das ist super ätzend und fast unmöglich.

Aber: Bei einem Event das immer eine Event Seuche hat ist das eben bei einer hoch ansteckenden, wenn für viele vielleicht auch nicht mehr riskanten Krankheit, trotzdem leichtsinnig und alles andere als inklusiv.

Good Creative Commons licensed music from the 2000s and 2010s is disappearing behind digital fences: archive.org hasn't backed up everything and Jamendo (the main site for CC music at that time) is requesting a signup for the "free download".

This just shows that centralised private services cannot be trusted for archiving the cultural heritage of mankind. All of Youtube could be gone tomorrow as well.

Seit dem vorletzten Jahrzehnt gibt es eine Alternative zu Musik mit GEMA-Gebühren: Musik, die unter einer Creative Commons Lizenz freigegeben ist. Zudem gab es Anfang der 2010er Jahre mit der C3S die Bestrebung, eine Alternative zur GEMA zu gründen. Für beides hat sich niemand interessiert. Daher habe ich jetzt auch wenig Mitleid mit den Weihnachtsmärkten, denn GEMA-freie Alternativen zu „Last Christmas“ wären da.

Sowohl in der Petition als auch zu deren Begleitartikel [1] taucht mehrmals der folgende Satz (auch in Abwandlungen) auf:

„Wenn die Voraussetzungen [für ein Verbot] wirklich nicht erfüllt sein sollten, dann können wir alle erleichtert sein wegen dieser Bestätigung.“

Das kann man so deuten, dass im Falle, in dem die AfD als verfassungstreu eingestuft werden würde, der Volksverpetzer kein Problem mehr mit ihr hätte.

Although a lot of work still remains to draw web pages and their text correctly, the browser and its engine already has a browser console that displays the DOM of the rendered page. It supports multiple internet protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, Gopher and QOTD (quote of the day). The pseudo file:// protocol can also be used to display basic HTML or plain text pages.
