@shoq I have a 17 year old and yes a large component of interacting of hanging with both his buddies and his girlfriend is on the phone. This is a direct result of the covid years when their only connection to each other was online. They also do get together in person a lot as well but there is a definately and strong online component in all their relationships now. I see it as a net positive though.
@krst@graand@Diggler67 TNSE will never change. They are so fiercely conservative sometimes. It's like they fear change, I'm not especially critical of their choice but it's so very predictable.
@krst@Diggler67@graand Thank you. I'm definately not short of ideas, whether they're any good or not is a different story. I do think that management can bet one def at times when it comes to their customer base.
@jeff When I was a kid the library was always a safe space. It was a quite refuge full of worlds to explore. To this day being in the stacks of any library induces a sense of calm.
Denying young people that refuge, especially in this day and age should be the criminal offense.
In some respects, these modern MAGA muttonheads are a direct result of some liberal orthodoxies. We made “do your own thing” a prime directive for 2.5 generations. So their grandparents did. And their parents did. And now they do. And here we are.
@shoq There's so many examples on how the coin has been flipped in awful ways:
Question the establishment is now question and mock expertise.
Free speech is now freedom of hate speech and misinformation.
Freedom of protest is now violent demonstrations and insurrection.
Etc, etc, etc.
