YESSSS
I have been desperately wanting a copy of this book for literal DECADES
My 25-year-old bootleg version I photocopied back in my undergrad days is literally falling to bits
(This was one of the books I'd included in my planned Grand U.P. Main Library Heist of 2001 before they put in barcodes and doorway scanners)
If you've been involved in #FanStudies for as long as I have, (and also have beef with #Amazon), you know how important this text is.
"Did you ever wonder why the 21st century feels like we're living in a bad cyberpunk novel from the 1980s?
"It's because these guys read those cyberpunk novels and mistook a dystopia for a road map. They're rich enough to bend reality to reflect their desires."
I'm not even gonna attempt to poke the "BEES. SO MANY BEES" that is the 80-odd years of Israeli-Palestinian "relations", but if this is true, then Bibi Netanyahu and Hamas are even bigger venal, fascist, and corrupt warmongering fools than I ever gave them credit for
I mean, what kind of tit-arsed logic is this insane and CLEARLY unsustainable apartheid policy based on?
/also, US-based news is near-unwatchable at the moment
Back before the apocalypse, my mom and I used to go to all these classical music concerts around the city, because I liked recitals, and she liked recitals, it was Our Thing.
When one watches these films or tv shows where the good guy ends up leveling a gun at the bad guy and the bad guy taunts them that they don't have the guts to kill them
Look, all I'm saying that it doesn't have to be this zero-sum moral dilemma
Just shoot them in the kneecaps
Or better yet, the balls
/sorry, just watched too many stupid movies today while incapacitated on my Bed of Pain
//tired and cranky
Nothing like waking up in the best mood you've ever been in in the past--oh I dunno, 6 weeks?--and making yourself the biggest breakfast of very buttery scrambled eggs and toast, and then actively considering cleaning up the garden you've neglected for the last two months. It's upswing season again!
Spaghetti all'assassina, 1.0. Because the pasta is not pre-boiled but instead tossed directly into the hot pan with garlic and chili flakes in olive oil, the texture is thicker because of the unwashed-away starch, even though it is eventually boiled into pomodoro sauce. Interesting.
