Last week was... a week. Last Sunday and Monday were pretty normal. My husband and I returned to the other side of the state and helped my Dad get more cleaned out of his house. But everything changed late last Tuesday morning, when my husband got a call from my brother-in-law, saying my father-in-law had an incident earlier that morning and was in the emergency room.

I'm starting to think that when HIDIVE made the recent changes to their website and app, that they decided to put the news behind a paywall. ANN has published three press releases from HIDIVE since then, and none of them show up when I pull up the page. I don't have an account there, so I can't log in and check to see if the news really is hidden unless you pay for a subscription.
But if they have indeed put the news behind a paywall, then that just feels counterproductive to me. Having the news page available to non-subscribers allows them to see if anything they're interested in is being picked up by the service (since a lot of the news on HIDIVE was press releases about acquisitions and when anime they've acquired will be added to the service).
A call from my sister just after midnight that she’d taken mum to the hospital.
Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go “bing”.
It’s about 4:30am and mum’s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.
Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.
