Sometimes when I'm feeling empty I think of the time back in 2016 when my bus got hung up in traffic because of a march going through the Seward neighborhood, so I hopped off to check it out.

And within minutes I was surrounded by a hundred people yelling TRANS LIVES MATTER and I just sobbed and sobbed for how absolutely much I needed to hear that in that exact moment.

This is me yelling it back to you -- TRANS LIVES MATTER! YOU MATTER

I sometimes feel despair / dysphoric about my voice, as a singer songwriter. Like I'm never going to reach the people I want to reach because I don't sound like the kind of person I think they'd listen to. It's often triggered by listening to cis women sing...

I've been surprised to find that performing live is a pretty effective treatment. The people who show up are exactly who I want to reach.

Every year around this time I start to wonder, how many of those giant 5 foot decorative spiders could actually survive in a given neighborhood.

Like, how big would their range have to be? Can they overlap? How many squirrels, cats, and kids would they require to eat, and how often?

I did the math last year I think, but it's lost now. Something like 1 per 5 blocks? Maybe more?

Any #arachnologist or #WildlifeBiologist or #SpookyNerd want to take a stab?

I wrote a (imho) great song a couple of months ago. I can hear the bass, drums, and keys parts, but it's taking forever to find the musicians to play them.

Instead of actually practicing today, I thought I'd see how far I could get on a recording.

Rec'd on a 4-track, and I didn't bounce anything, so no bass or percussion this time.

But, it's kinda amazing how much nuance you can get out of a bugle.

The other day I was chatting about wanting to play larger audiences.

Last night I led maybe 30 people in song ... letting the harmonies develop and wash over me... watching the song sink in and peoples' smiles grow...

Today I'm not sure what more than that I would want?

I have songs that would sound best (I think) sung by a few thousand voices, and I do wonder what that would feel like.

But mostly just I'm grateful to share music with open hearts -- one or more at a time

I wanted to see how simple I could make the harmony, and test my sense that the whole song is one giant chord (it is, give or take a passing tone or two!)

One track sings the melody, the rest hold a single note from that same melody.

It's not polished, just an experiment for your ears
