Every year around this time I start to wonder, how many of those giant 5 foot decorative spiders could actually survive in a given neighborhood.

Like, how big would their range have to be? Can they overlap? How many squirrels, cats, and kids would they require to eat, and how often?

I did the math last year I think, but it's lost now. Something like 1 per 5 blocks? Maybe more?

Any #arachnologist or #WildlifeBiologist or #SpookyNerd want to take a stab?

@jvw depends how many children they need to eat to maintain that size

@schizanon right? Like, if they lived near a school or a playground, their numbers might be higher.

Then again, imagine a nest of them outside the vet, or at the humane society!
