I have seen exactly one episode of Thomas the Tank Engine and it's the one where they punished a locomotive by walling him up inside a tunnel forever. Never felt the need to watch another, lol.

It's kind of the exact opposite of that story where an excavator gets stuck down in a hole and eventually gets converted into a stove or something in the basement of the house they built on the spot.

Second Hunger Games movie down. It was... okay I guess? Felt messy and like I spent 2 and a half hours watching a set up for the movie I'd hoped to be watching instead

Also movie, did you really deny me the Haymitch team up in order to do the Peeta thing again? I wasn't stoked the first time around and it did not land better the second go around

I could never see myself buying an ICE vehicle again... EVs have simply won in my book. It's no longer a matter of "will EVs become a thing" and more so, "how long until every vehicle is an EV".

It's inevitable.. just doubt it'll be in my lifetime. In the meantime, I'm loving them.

The #Pandoc abstract syntax tree as JSON would make an interesting and interoperable document exchange format, except it's very stable. That'd be fixable, though. With a little effort, it could be specified quite formally.

Imagine using that for, say, emails, or instead of markdown. No need to understand badly defined HTML subsets or markdown flavors, except for you local client. Everyone could interoperate.

It's not human-readable, or human-writable, but it's powerful.

I hate truncated URLs. I want to know what I'm clicking on. Are you really so hard up for screen space in 2023 that you need to truncate URLs?

I thought I had kneecapped the URL truncating code in my Mastodon instance but what I did was really only effective for outgoing posts. It turns out the shortening is something that is built into the HTML it sends out, and thus built into the HTML that you receive from the people you follow.

Fortunately, it's done with <span> and CSS, so you can use CSS to undo it, if you are a fellow long URL enjoyer:
