So I uploaded the text for the last post on my blog to Gemini and asked for it to help me refine it. The original title was: Saving stuff for "later"

The Gemini title made me chuckle:

Title: The Digital Graveyard: Why "Save for Later" Doesn't Work (For Me)

I like how it added the "(For Me)" part. Definitely shows how everyone has to couch everything in "for me" when writing these days even when its clear they're talking only about themselves.

I do like the rest of the title tho.

Always remember, we are all entitled to our own opinions and we all get to choose what we use as far as software, hardware or anything else in this world. Just because YOU don't like something doesn't mean everyone else should not like it as well.

If you continually try and shove your opinion down my throat and try to force me to change what I use, I will simply block you and move on.

It's not appropriate, nor is it wanted or needed. It's actually quite DISRESPECTFUL!

Here’s the thing, when the DoJ goes after companies for things other than monopolies, it can often win. Apple did break the law when it tried to do price fixing for ebooks. It straight up did that. It also colluded with other big tech companies to depress salaries. Those settlements made sense b/c like, yeah, those laws were clearly broken. But without seeing the full docs, being mad that Apple has private APIs it hoarded for itself is such a weird thing to spend 5 years investigating.

@film_girl I'd argue that the ebook case has FAR more nuance than any of this other stuff. Especially given that the whole point was because at the time Amazon controlled like 90% of the ebook market.

@film_girl @chrisfinazzo the big 6 wouldn’t have agreed if it wasn't in their best interest. and they did...those pricing tiers went into effect and the net effect was higher prices on books. the agency model that Apple wanted was better for the publishers and better for Apple. Seems like it was better for Amazon too since they couldn't use eBooks as loss leaders anymore.

On Donald Trump I heard someone say: "You're trying to solve a political problem with the judiciary, and it's not going to work"
I've not seen a more apt description of the problem. As long as a large swath of the population unwaveringly support him, the courts will always be influenced to treat him with utmost leniency. That's why I've never gotten celebrating every ruling against him. They will never enforce punitive measures against the man until he's defeated politically.

@mike that suggests nobody should bother trying to finally hold that mother fucker to account which is ridiculous. “The judiciary” mostly has NOT treated him leniently. And millions of dollars is pretty punitive. 😂 Will they throw him in jail? Of course not. Bit of a logistics nightmare.
