@inquiline it’s really been bizarre watching this unfold. I can’t imagine teaching under these conditions. What do you suppose they are expecting students and faculty to snitch on each other about?

@inquiline extraordinary! It’s almost as if the administration wants students and faculty to know that reason is beside the point: “Because we said so!” At least you were able to censor the provost and president. Congratulations to you and your colleagues for standing up to it. The violence against peaceful protestors that occurred at UCLA with apparently zero accountability for the administration is shocking.

Today I had a video chat with my mom (who’s 86 and non-ambulatory) and I walked all over the place with her to show her all the wildflowers. I was using my phone so could get right up close. I reminded her of all their names and that she had taught me them. She cried at that and then so did I.

The neighbor mini donkeys are here this morning. They have a big pasture and can roam all over it but they prefer to come eat right at the fence line just to taunt our animals. Cutest little brats.

My wife has been bedridden for the weekend with a virus the doctor couldn’t name and now it seems I’m coming down with it. This unfortunately leaves Manuel in charge of maintaining order.
