@notfire @lucasmz @nano that’s… not really true? i mean, yes depthcharge is a thing, but you don’t necessarily need to use a thumb drive to boot from these, and there are some ongoing efforts to make upstream support of ARM laptops better

it’s not fully there yet, but I wouldn’t say that they are “the worst”. they’re neat little devices, imo!

@schrottkatze depends on how you write them? i got to a point where I have a mental workflow for how the code should be laid out, and implementing formats is honestly really fun 🥰

@schrottkatze at some complexity level tokenization REALLY starts to make sense, especially with parsing text of a regular format (think: code). it also serves for a better division between parser code and actual application logic

are you looking for longevity, or i/o speeds? in ye olden times there were “industrial grade” CF cards, so I imagine it’s similar with SD cards, but one thing they probably have in common is the egregious price..

@iro_miya @linus i have a server-managed key backup (i.e. on every session it restores stuff automagically after I login and confirm the session), but our usecase here is “dump the whole DM just so I can grep through it”, and, well..
