@augieray as I always notice, and a friend pointed out when warching behind the scenes Dr Who TV progamme, every film and TV production has everyone masked except the performers. When it comes to money and power, precautions are still taken, just not for the plebs.

99.9% of jobs do not require urgency of any kind, really they don't. We've all had a boss who acts like someone will die if we don't hit some made up deadline by people who don't even do the job. No one needs their meal 1 minute faster or the paperwork before tomorrow morning. Your time off actually doesn't need to wait. Sometimes I think about how legitimately bad most businesses are at time management and hiring, and I wonder how they manage to exist at all.

@Jyoti BTW, the reason I am on a rare tear blogging is maybe not the healthiest of ones, which you can read about on my other blog here if you're interested. TL: DR steroids for Crohn's for looming dialysis at some point = energy and focus, at least for a time.

(Today's anti-favorite: if the phone loses reception for even a moment — common on trains! — it disconnects tethering and never reconnects. You're just offline until you notice. Then you need to reconnect from the Mac's Wi-Fi menu again, after waiting for the option to become available, a process that's almost as slow as dialing up your ISP with a modem in the 1900s.)

@marcoarment we had a weekend long Orange DSL outage here and borrowed a 4g hotspot from the shop.

With iphones and ipad, oh boy, had to basically nuke any other wifi set-up from it to make it just use the hot spot and stop connecting to other things.
