Re Apple’s EU judgement: Remember that EU antitrust law does not require direct harm to consumers. It’s not the same as US law. Behaviour which is anticompetitive (ie using monopoly positions to stifle competition) is regarded as harmful to consumers, even if no direct harm (ie raised prices) has occurred.

I still can’t get my head around how US regulators allowed Ticketmaster and Live Nation to create such a gigantic monopoly when it was flagrantly anticompetitive. I think they gave some assurances about ‘behaving well’.
That worked out well for all of us, then.

Have you ever been laying around, and realized your arm was in a strange position, and it felt weird, so you try to move it into a more natural position, but now you're hyper aware of how you position your arms, and it all feels weird, so you start questioning whether you know how to have arms?

This also applies to breathing.

AI is SO dangerous for so many industries.

This monstrosity was shown to me on FB as a suggested page to follow (though why tf would I want to follow 'I love cows')

Loads of bakers are in comments saying they're sick of prospective customers looking at this kind of shit, always unaware it's AI and thinking it can be 100% replicated by human hands - and of course for very little cash!

Now I’m crystal clear, those problems haven’t vanished, but I’ve found things I’m passionate about that take my mind off things.

Canadians are the nicest people in the world, but yowsers!

In Canada they came up with a creepy but effective thing to stop people from being lazy in crossing the road according to the rules.

At the bus stop, the Canadians installed a sign on which... your skeleton appears. He repeats all your movements, and then gets hit by a car. Quite unexpected, but very intelligible for those who like to cross the road outside the rules.

I had a great balcony for low effort astrophotography back when I lived outside Geneva. The summer of 2019 was particularly good, and both Jupiter and Saturn were visible every night. I got some great shots of Jupiter with its moons, like this one here.

These are single shots with a 135mm lens and 500ms exposure. I got inspired by a friend that did proper astrophotography with tracking and stacking and all, which sounded like a lot of fun!
