'Tied accommodation' - come from overseas and work for us and we'll house you until you even try to think about leaving - has been going on for YEARS. I know of two large englandshire registered companies who were doing it up in Scotland even though both had Modern Slavery philosophies in their brochures. I'm talking 15 years ago.

This shit is RIFE where I live. Twenty delivery bikes permanently parked up on corner of our street. Drivers are kackered, dirty and living from delivery to delivery. Tied into bike + accommodation slavery in return for a cut of their take.
I was told by a shopkeeper that a local shitbag landlord is housing ten of them in the windowless basement of a vacant shop.

The final piece of the pie is the Police’s complete indifference to what’s going on. Don’t know why. Probably don’t want to wade into a quagmire of criminality and human misery. And the drivers have too much to lose to complain.
My heart goes out to them.
I’m trying to work out who to contact about the basement dwelling. My MP is pretty tenacious. I’m trying her.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my local Labour MP. Works bloody hard for her community.
But the party HQ treated her like the enemy. Very little support, until the viral film I shot of her went huge on Twitter and was slavishly copied by Boris Johnson.
Then it was doubles all round.
2019 was such a delusional shitshow. On both sides.
“ 'I’m the king of a lost world! I’m the king and I will destroy you!' Javier Milei bellowed into the microphone on Wednesday night as Argentina’s showman president took to the stage for his first stadium gig since his election last year.”

My daughter follows some of my Argentinian cousins instagram feeds. He’s very popular with the ‘haves’, young and old. Seen as some sort of Economic Idiot Savant, who will protect those struggling to maintain ‘what’s theirs’ while demonising the concept of ‘society’.
They dug up Margaret Thatcher and made a smash burger with Trump. Nazi buns, with plenty of relish.

A very common one for me in town is waiting at a red light to turn left at a junction, only to have an e-bike doing 30 undertake and bomb round the corner.
Multiple times if I’d simply twisted my wheel to shift my standing weight, I’d have been smashed into bits.
Always always delivery drivers, occasionally souped up scooters.
@clive@dougiec3
Also: the large Junction ‘X’ crossings. Bikes will occasionally amble across the red light to cross over with pedestrians (while still giving them right of way).
But e-scooters and delivery bikes just see it as a green light and bomb straight across at full speed.
@clive@dougiec3
and lastly e-bike bombing in and out of cycle lanes. Overtaking cyclists in the blue lane. Relative speeds are so out of whack. Dangerous.
