That’s been the overwhelming response each time I’ve seen it brought up. I want to help put little Lemmy symbols or something, but I haven’t seen one forming when I’ve had a chance to check

I mean, you can start by blocking or hiding the community set up specifically to talk about reddit

Does Newpipe have YouTube videos? Is it an entirely separate video sharing site?

Same content plus more content and ad free? Sign me up!

I mean that I’m going to go download that immediately.

Thanks!

Ok, there are 4 different apps in the Google app store by that name.

Ok thank you.

My input for anyone on board for this is to start with the Lemmy logo. Put it everywhere, subtle and varied like the among us characters had been done before. Then, quickly, put one bold one and focus on getting the word Lemmy next to it. If the moderators don’t immediately squash that, go on to the other words you have laid out here.

Alternatively, put the smallest readable size of the word Lemmy.com all over Place.

That would have been great. I’m away from the computer, but I kept looking for anything Kbin or Lemmy in the mix.

This is why I can’t enjoy most new games, especially since I am exclusively on smartphone games with limited time and no interest in paying for anything. All the multiplayer mobile games set up this scenario to push you to buy power ups to get that guy back who just wiped you off the map with a $5 item. Nah, I’ll just uninstall at that point.

Time to make as many Lemmy references as possible on that canvas. Hidden, overt, just everywhere

I’m sure we will have another round of recap videos on YouTube that will be made up of screenshots

“Unfortunately that formula can be easily replicated so really it was just a matter of time before similar alternatives popped up.”

I disagree on the unfortunate part. I think it’s good that alternatives are easy to make. That means I don’t have to put up with the shenanigans to have the type of forum I’ve enjoyed.

So, was it their job to be electors and they falsified something, or was it not even their job and they lied about that plus falsified something?

Ah, now I understand what was going on with them. Thank you for writing this all out for me.

What's something you used to do/see/say but don't anymore because you don't feel it's right?

Me personally? I’ve become much less tolerant of sexist humor. Back in the day, cracking a joke at women’s expense was pretty common when I was a teen. As I’ve matured and become aware to the horrific extent of toxicity and bigotry pervading all tiers of our individualistic society, I’ve come to see how exclusionarly and...

Jokes built on racist stereotypes. Used to be just another part of my family’s collection of jokes, but now I don’t see the humor in those

Undoing that would be a great step in the right direction, among other good steps that colleges and people in government oppose.

I guess Lemmy.world with adult content toggle off is a good option

How to de-radicalize my mom's youtube algorithm?

She’s almost 70, spend all day watching q-anon style of videos (but in Spanish) and every day she’s anguished about something new, last week was asking us to start digging a nuclear shelter because Russia was dropped a nuclear bomb over Ukraine. Before that she was begging us to install reinforced doors because the...

As you plan on messing with her feed, I’d like to warn you that a sudden change in her recommendations could seem to her like the whole internet got censored and she can’t see the truth anymore. She would be cut off from a sense of community and a sense of having special inside knowledge, and that may make things worse rather than better.

My non-proffessional prediction is that she would get bored with nothing to worry about and start actively seeking out bad news to worry over.

Usernameblankface,
@Usernameblankface@lemmy.world avatar

I agree that cult mindset or psychosis is what she has going on. But suddenly removing the source from her computer without her knowledge could backfire because she’s already so invested.

They have a new identity that they keep reinforcing with every new decision. They’ve lost their previous identity and become just another web service looking to get the most money possible out of the users they can still attract.

Usernameblankface,
@Usernameblankface@lemmy.world avatar

Sounds like something that will cause a split later down the line.

Do people running servers have any options for limiting the amount of pictures and video that users upload to their instance?

Having text-only communities sounds like a good way to attract the right people and be an unattractive option for people who just want max content.

Usernameblankface,
@Usernameblankface@lemmy.world avatar

Hmm, links to pictures elsewhere seems like it would be less work for the computer running the instance.

Yeah. This is a nice idea to deal with the problem, but why are they perpetuating the problem? Why continue to use bar soaps that constantly need to be collected? Do customers throw a fit if they have liquid soap?
