octoprint is so good. it sparks much joy, in contrast to every other 3d printer software and firmware.

    Nici,

@tomw @jacqueline I'm also pretty curious as someone who's never used octoprint

You lent me a lidar sensor at #cccamp23 I havent forgotten about returning it just so you know :)

I'll really wanna make it to emf this year, and assuming that all brit hackers will be there I'll give it back to ya then :)

    Thank a bunch, cheers!

    Nici,

    @jonty

    >Do you remember who was with you that borrowed the other one?

Oh man, I dont remember at all. I don't think we exchanged any socials... They should have your email stickered on the sensor though... Mine did.

  • Nici,

@deshipu what hid device doesn't have or at least emulate two finger scrolling or a mouse wheel? I wouldn't call a design broken because we've moved past draggable scrollbars

    I cant believe this

I often wonder why news consists of negative events: War, rape, robbery, etc.

It's never a celebrity who found new love, or a kid that saved some kitten from a tree.

Positive events don't sell, and it should be other way around.

    Today's front pages are depressing.

    Nici,

@jorijn Controversy sells. If you're forced to take a side you will inevitably argue with others and that drives engagement.

The most popular news sites don't care about educating and empowering their readers, all they want is clicks and the ad revenue that comes with it. It is absolutely fucked.

Currently trying to #reverse_engineer how issuu renders its documents. The backend serves me a binary that somehow contains the pdf page layout which is then rendered into a <canvas> html field on the website.

Theres some ascii text inside that binary but I havent managed to get much more than that from it.

Here's the site if anyone else wants to have a go at it:
    https://issuu.com/strteachware/docs/24_rechtsformen_brennpunkt_bd2_lp_3

    image/png

    Nici,

There's some logic referencing creating said canvas in the document-page-reader.js file but its one line 19254 πŸ’€

    Nici,

The code at around line 30803 is responsible for rendering the canvas itself. It uses a function called "drawCanvasObjectTree" Using a breakpoint I found out that it's run for every frame, including the page flip animation it does.

    Nici,

This is a fucking pain in the arse

    Nici,

@jorijn I'm just glad I havent hit a brick wall yet. Making progress... Slowly...

This part specifically looks really really interesting πŸ‘€

Get ready for shinier chord names! ✨️ Fretboard now utilizes the β™― and β™ characters throughout the entire app. The chord name entry has gained a deep understanding of how chord names are built up, and turns your sloppily typed abominations of chord names into properly formatted strings instantly 😎️

Thanks to @wjt for suggesting this!

    Nici,

@jacqueline oh a mildly unrelated note: You dont happen to attend CCC Congress this year, do you? I'd love to hear a talk from ya on this and what challenges you're facing designing this as well as moments of euphoria <3
