@DropBear@palestine An ABC News report reckons "Caution has dominated the government's approach."
Nope. The Zionist lobby has dominated the LABOR government's approach. The Murdoch media stranglehold has dominated the government's approach. Dutton (FFS!) has dominated the government's approach. But most of all, cowardice has dominated the government's approach.
According to media reports, Senator Graham reportedly attacked UNRWA and allegedly claimed that the relief agency has taught Palestinian children to "kill all the Jews," leading to the organization being declared "dead to the US."
This occur amidst Israel's failure to provide evidence for its allegations and claims of certain organizations' involvement in the events of October 7th. As a result, all countries except the US have reinstated funding for #UNRWA.
What would you call a society this genocidal whose blood thirst is still at this, after massacring 30,000 Palestinians & still continue to massacre them?
Most protests we hear about removing Nethanyahu are largely about internal power struggle, but not against genocide itself.
#Israel / Ben-Gvir: “lethal force should be used against women and children approaching the fence”
During a cabinet meeting, far-right Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir clashed with #IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi over rules of engagement along the #Gaza border. Ben-Gvir argued that clear directives were needed to prevent another #Hamas attack, saying lethal force should be used against women and children approaching the fence as potential militants.
The heated exchange reflects tensions between the military and the new right-wing government over policies toward Palestinians, with hawkish ministers pushing for tougher measures and clearly illegal measures, despite warnings from security officials and the international community.
Reminder: Israel’s next legal battle at the #ICJ will be a hearing on the UN's request to examine the legality of the occupation in the West Bank. Finally 🙄
The public hearing on the request, filed on Palestinian initiative, will take place Monday, 19 February 2024 in The Hague. An opinion is expected to be published towards the end of the year.
What it’s about:
#Wikipedia: “Legal Consequences arising from the Policies and Practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem” (Request for Advisory Opinion) is a proceeding in the International Court of Justice (#ICJ), stemming from a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (#UNGA) in December 2022, requesting the Court to render an advisory opinion.
The assessment among Israeli experts is that in the best case it will be decided that #Israel is severely violating the laws of occupation, and in the worst case that Israel is guilty of #apartheid or that Israel must immediately evacuate the territories.
One possibility is that the UN will adopt it, and then the Palestinians or various countries will try to promote practical steps to implement it. These steps can be far-reaching. Countries can act accordingly, and take economic and other measures against the State of Israel.
@LukefromDC@oatmeal@israel@palestine The US dare not escalare war in the Red Sea because that really would stop all shipping! I just hope the Houthis can nkeep the pressure up until Israel folds!
