My pastel sketch of #totality during yesterday's #TotalSolarEclipse. I wasn't there to see it in person this time, but I used the amazing photo shared by Tom Kerss (with permission) as a reference image. The #corona looked so different yesterday than it did when we saw the 2017 eclipse because we were in solar minimum then and near solar maximum now. There were several lovely #prominences visible too #AstronomySketching #SunSketch

MaryMcIntyreAstro,

@webcubus Thank you :) I'm so glad you was able to see it in person. 2017 was my first total eclipse and it was such an incredible experience. I'm glad the weather was good enough for you to enjoy it :D

MaryMcIntyreAstro,

@webcubus it was similar for us in 2017. Under 3hrs to get from Denver from Glendo State Park, closer to 12hrs to get back again!

As I was imaging from dusk until dawn, I had a LOT of images to play with to create some This is 8 hours, made up from 1,650 x 15 second exposures, ISO-1600 f/3.5. Stacked using You can view the timelapse video of this here: https://youtu.be/hPJdB7pOk7I?si=Fn68Y9VOFPBI-K0F

We had a brilliant display of from North Oxfordshire, UK - latitude 52' - overnight on 3rd/4th March 2024. I caught three separate bursts of activity, but this was the best of them. Mark created an all sky tracked-stack from our 4 GMN cameras, showing all the #GeminidMeteors we captured overnight on 13th/14th December. It's so cool to see them presented this way #MeteorShower #Geminids2023

Despite it being cloudy for over half of the night in Oxfordshire on 13th/14th December, we captured 1169 meteors on our 4 cameras. Across the UK network we had 2,528 matches but several cameras had so much data that they were late uploading so the real figure is higher!

SW facing meteor camera track-stack, showing 315 meteors
NE facing meteor camera track-stack, showing 389 meteors
SE facing meteor camera track-stack, showing 431 meteors

It's short notice, but due to the previous speaker having to cancel, I've stepped in to do a talk tomorrow night (Friday 17th November) at 7:30pm UK time for the Astronomical Society of Edinburgh. It's free and open to anyone because it's being streamed to You Tube. This is one of my absolute favourites so please do come along!

I've had no time to do any astronomy for fun recently. I was working until after 4am this morning so had very little sleep, but I just made myself take 30mins to explore #Jupiter, loads of #StarClusters, #M45 + #M31 with my #SkywatcherHeritage 74mm mini #Dobsonian #telescope. No imaging - just looking. This telescope is so much fun and I love it 🥰

Obligatory "I've done a talk so here's a photo of me in front of my backdrop" photo 🤣 Thank you so much for tuning in. I saw some familiar faces on Zoom and I know several people were watching on YouTube 😎

I can't tell you how excited I am to own this, recently bought from a friend. It's a bottle featuring a badge. The AKA C/1811 F1 was visible for ~260 days. 1811 was a great year for wine production & "Comet Wine" was sold for many years afterwards.

MaryMcIntyreAstro,

@amoroso I love it so much!

@sundogplanets It's only the 2nd time I've seen and photographed a lunar CZA, but we did also have a gorgeous one on our all sky camera a couple of months ago. I was gutted that I slept through that one!

MaryMcIntyreAstro,

@JohnBarentine Fantastic photo :) It was such a special place to be, so thanks so much for making it a great day. We bought t-shirts and made some additional donations to help with costs, because we saw online that it cost you guys a lot of money to put it on :(
