This scam is unsuspicious as hell. A good reminder that I'd need to remind myself why the person needs my passcode.
I'd have fallen for this MITM, I'm pretty certain.

Ich habe nun zwei seltsame Job-Offers bekommen:

Einmal das Programmieren einer Slotmaschine mit Wahrscheinlichkeitsalgorithmus.

Das andere ist ein Vorschlag als Lagervorarbeiter bei Amazon in Leipzig.

Von unterschiedlichen Plattformen, also kein Zusammenhang. Wir brauchen uns wirklich keine Gedanken um den gläsernen Menschen zu machen, wenn so etwas dabei herauskommt.

@beandev Ich hatte auch schon mal Bedarf nach einem IT Dev für die Firma in der ich arbeite. Aktuell sind diese aber bereits vergeben.
In deiner Timeline sehe ich kein Aufruf nach einem Jobangebot. Ich gehe mal davon aus das du bereits ernsthafte Jobangebote erhalten hast? Ist es aktuell schwierig in Deutschland ein gutes Jobangebot als Software-Architekt zu bekommen?

@retrosteveuk @EposVox Long exposure time due to the dimm lighting I guess. So the guy to the left seems to have nodded while the photo was made.

Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability. (lemmy.world)

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can’t count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with...

But there is also how games have aged over time. Some game mechanics still work and are fun.

I just recently bought "Populous" on steam for 2$. After learning how to use DosBox the game is still as addictive as it was on my Atari-STE ... but now I have bad old PC sound.

Compare this with "Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars" I should have skipped buying that. The conversion is so faithful that it still has the same stupid unit movements.

Meine Tochter ist jetzt 13 Jahre alt und hat sich bei der Berufswahl ernsthaft dafür interessiert, etwas in Richtung #IT zu machen.

@jwildeboer Ich habe paranoide Kollegen in meinem Bekanntenkreis die davor warnen, dass "AI" bald alle Computersysteme unterwandern. Da geht mit der Umgang mit den Programmen genau in die falsche Richtung. 🙄

Die Krätze verbreitet sich übrigens auch wieder merklich in Deutschland. Ziemlich unangenehm. Verbreitet sich über engen Hautkontakt, deswegen nicht das primäre Risiko beim Feiern, aber kann man auch mal im Hinterkopf behalten.

As I've said before, in both cases the current approaches seem to be on the problem being one of optimizing for less typing. But that misses the central point: It is the problem solving that is the bottleneck not the typing.
Professional software development is a process of exploration and discovery and for we need the mindset and the tools that allow us to try out our ideas and discard the bad ones.

A #hackerspace friend convinced me buy a watch again. The #Cadio F-91W was my first watch I had when I was a teenager. And the one I liked most.

The ribbon got brittle after some time. I was able to replace the rubber ribbon myself with the help of said friend. I was unable to buy a replacement rubber ribbon from the store. So I bought one from china. 🤷

I dunno if 1:30 PM EST on a Saturday morning is the right time to reach someone who cares about this, but: I really have problems with the Rust LSP. I use it with Sublime and on all platforms I use it on it seems to create huge problems with absurd memory use that compounds more and more with the number of windows you have open. The indexing when it opens a new project is very slow, it seems to take much longer to come to the conclusion "oh, this doesn't compile" than actual rustc

    Hey, so, weird Linux question

    I ran this script that talks to the serial port https://mastodon.social/@mcc/111270685822595407

    It uses PySerial

    It only works if I run as root

    The device is owned by the "dialout" group, so I added myself to the dialout group— id(1) confirms I'm in the group

    But I'm still being denied

    What am I missing? I tried logging Wayland out and back in.

    Is there something I have to do to like… rehash group privs?

    @jpm @laund I'm pretty new to rust too. But I've read that you can separately optimize depending if it's your code or some imported library code. Would need to search somewhat to find that reference though.
